$600 sounds about fair.... how much above $600 is what'll make me debate this. Interested to see a better estimate. :)

Very interested in pricing on the engine and trans mounts. Not really interested in going the hydro boost route.

this is something I've been researching lately. Here are the numbers I've managed to find. All are likely +/- 10-15 lbs I'd think in the real world.

Note this is dressed weight and for engine only (trans difference not factored)

              M20 (stock engine) - 200lbs
sbf 302 (iron block, alum heads) 205 lbs
              LS1 (alum block) 230lbs
sbf 302 (iron block, iron heads) 245 lbs
LQ9 (iron block, alum heads ) 255 lbs
LQ4 (iron block, iron heads) 295 lbs

If anyone has more accurate data to provide, I'd welcome it.

We weighed our LS1 & T56 before we installed it. It was complete with all accessories (PS pump, Water Pump, A/C, intake manifold, engine harness & engine mounts) and engine + tranny weighed 603lbs. @260lbs each engine mount, @83lbs on tranny mount. See our thread on bimmerforums for the pics on scales. We also weighed the car on a 4-corner scale after finishing it: 2865lbs with 1/2 tank of gas. The BMW manufacturer weight is about 2750lbs Any of the iron-block LS engines will weigh about 110lbs more.

The M20 with tranny and all of the accessories above must weigh about 495lbs.

                    Garret,

My girl got me y'alls CD for Valentine's day... GD there is a ton of stuff on there, and very well documented!

I'd definately be interested in the motor and tranny mounts!

Any reason y'all went with the Hydroboost over say a Tilton setup???

                    Thanks,
                    Tony

There's not a lot of room up under the dash for the Tilton pedals and cylinders. We thought that power brakes are also a must in a very quick and fast street car. On top of that, all pedal forces are reacted out in the driver's seat back (and we all know how flimsy the BMW seats are).

                          Our trade-off study results were:

About the same or less work for the HB brakes
                          About the same cost
                          Power brakes
Much better cool factor with the hood open
Working under the dash sucks (ever change the clutch master cylinder??)
The challenge of working it out
