    suspension overhaul, stance be damned

My car is a DD, so I planned my suspension build to retain ride quality and comfort, while being a capable performer when pushed. I also wanted a better stance, but at a height that's safe for the mean streets of L.A.

So here is what I ended up with:
-- Koni shocks/struts -- 8641-1210SP front, and 80 2641Sport rear. These are the m-technik, ie., lowering spring version.
-- H&R sport springs -- 50406 fronts and euro cab springs (19-03). I went with six cylinder front springs and cab rear springs in order to avoid the reverse-rake I've seen with H&R sets.
-- UUC sway barbarians along with Turner rear and AKG front swaybar tab reinforcements
    -- AKG 80A subframe bushings
-- OEM RTABs and m3 offset CABs
-- TCK street RSMs with Z3 reinforcement plates
-- oem front and rear spring pad

The end result is the ride exceeds my expectations in comfort, it corners nice and flat, and it's tight as drum. And I love the stance, no reverse rake and no excessive forward rake. Yes, there is wheel gap so it won't win any stance awards, but I don't mind it, and it's pretty equal in the front and back.

I covered the bodywork and interior in a previous post. Here are some of the mods/upgrades:

    4:10 Torsen LSD from a 2.8 Z3
    M finned diff. cover
    2.7 turn lock-to-lock steering rack from a non-M Z3
    Shift lever from a 1.9 Z3
    M lighted shift knob
Z3 BMW Traffic Pro radio, Blaupunkt amp and powered sub
    Coil-on-plug conversion using M54 coils
    Z3 roadster antenna
MHW tails and Hella smoked smileys with HIDs
    MarkD chip
    Supersprint exhaust

Looks great. The ride height seems perfect for dd duty.

No skid plate on your mod list? Not that you really need it... just a nice precaution seeing as how we have the worst paved streets in the country.

Excellent. No, no stance awards, but for cars I drive myself I also prefer a reasonable ride height. :p

Stance looks great for a DD, only complaint/criticism I have is the tires appear to have a huge sidewall. I think something slightly smaller would look great. Overall though, it is a completely awesome car. I love the interior so much, and you have a great choice in wheels

too much rake imo. level it out in the rear would look a lil bit nicer.

might be the effect of the downhill facing e30...

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.
