I found this 89 325i on my local Craigslist for $500,it wouldnt turn over and the guy gave up on it. So the main thing i wanted from this car was the almost new Stromung exhaust and the rest was just a bonus. It has 217k miles and the autotragic was replaced at 200k.
I bought the car for $450 and towed it home,took off the Stromung the next day and put it on my 325is.
Replaced the fuel pump on the car and it started and ran. So over the last 3 weeks i replaced all the belts,filters,fluids,CSB,o2 sensor,water pump,fan clutch,plugs and wires and some other minor things. Today i went and got it smogged and it passed easily.
I have maybe $700 total into it including the exhaust and 12 hours labor,basically the price of a new Stromung. Its not pretty but as a DD its ideal and i can leave it anywhere without worrying if someone is going to bump into it or slam their door into mine,etc,plus the autotragic is good in rush hour traffic. Im very happy!:D
