Out of curiousity, how did your E30 compare to all those Type Rs, i've had 5 civics, all heavily modded, all of them were swapped, 2 were 5 lugged with type r brakes/suspension and were on rails...so relative to the ITRs do the E30s hold their own or do they lag behind? I feel that that E30's suspension is so outdated, and is really horrible, when compared to a basic econo box like a honda.
Just my opinion though.
It all depends on the driver (and how hard he/she is pushing the car.) This past weekend I passed ITR's, and I got passed by them (assuming similar skill level because this all took place in the instructor group.)
ITR is the finest FWD track car ever made (with 91-94 Sentra SE-R a close second.)
Stock for stock, an ITR would waste an E30.
Modified? Hard to say. Obviously an E30/S52 would school... but the better driver will always prevail at a track as technical as VIR-Full :D
IMHO of course-

Maybe so, I don't know enough about advanced chassis dynamics to say for sure.
I find my E30 super easy to drive hard, which inspires me with confidence, which in turn makes me better/faster.
When I had FWD cars (Sentra SE-R's) it was trickier to make 'em go fast... i.e. they weren't anywhere near as easy to drive fast as this E30. So I think I was more cautious in them than I am in this car.
Either way, the key to a fast lap is always gonna be... get rid of the understeer! 8)

So that was your car at VIR this past weekend. I was there all weekend flagging with Madison Motorsports. I spent alot of time talking to the spec e30 guys and taking pictures of cars. I definitly have quite a few of the e30s that were there. I hope to be out there in a few months :D
Yea I think I've seen you on MM board. Thanks for flagging, you guys are awesome :!:

GetFast, were you there for the enduro on Sunday? Sorry I didn't see you out there.
If anyone was interested, I have some more pics listed in the Track/Autox section of the site.
In regards to ^, the e30s were certainly holding their own. If they were shitboxes, there wouldn't be so many instructors driving them.
I was there but not driving in the enduro. My car's only about 50% of the way toward being a Spec E30 racecar... someday, eventually of course... but not yet ;)
They aren't shitboxes. They are super fun, remarkably cheap and reliable track cars. They're also plentiful enough that you can destroy one and start over for not much $. PERFECT for a potential racecar ;)

I'll take "why is Charlie still into e30's for 1000" Alex ;)
John, you forgot to mention that they make great candidates for $1500 spec e30 legal diff builds
Interesting you say SE-R is 2nd FWD track car, I liked my G20 and a lighter version would be great. Plus, I'm always recommending them to friends who want fun and nice handling cars, especially cheap and not honda like everyone else.
