    E30 1991 318is Alpine White

    Hi,
I just wanted to post some pics of my new acquisition a 1991 318is alpine white. I really wanted a 325is, but it's so hard to find one in good shape at a good price. But anyways my goal is to do a S52 swap next year...

I needs some work, but over all it was in very good shape. It does need new suspension (front shocks are blown & strut mounts are broken). Also I'm having a problem with the engine idleing out only when I first start it every time cold or hot. Still trying to figure it out.

Everything that these guys said but I would get a lighter (13lb) STEEL flywheel and a MarkD chip.

              You'll love it!!

I hate my m42... Freaking one coolant leak after another after another after another! But all that's left is the radiator that's in the mail and literary every part will have been replaced in the cooling system..

I have to say this car is SO much lighter then a 6 cylinder car.

Don't destroy ANOTHER 318is with an M42 by swapping in an S52 or any other engine.

E30's are amazing with the M42.

You probably didn't do the mess under the intake delete. My M42 has 215k on it, and I rag the poop out of it, and it leaves not one drop of any sort of liquid anywhere.

                        Update...

Ok so you guys were right! LOL The M42 is starting to grow on me. I just miss the torque you get from the 6 cyl engines:-)...

                        So far I've replaced/changed:
                        1. Oil & Coolant
                        2. Spark plugs
                        3. New lower oil gasket and drain plug
                        4. JVC radio
                        5. Front Hub Bearings
                        6. A/C blower/resistor
                        7. Hood insulation
                        8. Stock exhaust
                        9. KYB F&R shock (I'm on a budget:-)) I'll do bilstiens next...
                        10. New Tie Rod Ends
                        11. New oem Strut mounts F&R
                        12. Racing Dynamic Blue E30 Springs (Will put them in this weekend hopefully. Haven't had time...)
                        13. Febi Bilstein Shift Knob
                        14. New L&R OEM Control Arms and Lillipop bushings
                        15. Bavarian Dashboard cover (for now. later I will replace the complete dash)

What I think I should do next: (open to suggestions)
                        1. Replace all vacuum hoses
                        2. Replace all upper gaskets
                        3. Replace exhaust valves
                        3. Replace tensioner pistion (already ordered this week. engine is starting to sound like a diesel engine...lol Yes I'm driving easy. Don't want chain to go)
                        4. Get some nice rims and do some cosmetic work...
                        5. I'm still debating in my head the S52 swap:-) I know some of you will hate me for wanting to remove the M42...lol

While you are replacing vacuum hoses, I would really look into deleting the nest of hoses underneath the TB. Look into this thread and you will be enlightened.

Looks great, im a huge fan of the M42. IMO a turbo M42 would be much more unique and fun than an S52..
