CAR HISTORY:
Before I bought the car in 2005 it was owned by an attorney in San Francisco and I only know the history to her ownership.
When she passed away, her husband donated the car to a charity or church. The charity consigned it an auction service where my pals at Autobahn Dismantling were winning bidders. John at Autobahn decided he didn’t want it so I hauled ass down there with cash and made a deal on the spot.
Since I’ve owned it, I had the interior redone at Jim’s Auto Upholstery, installed H&R spring with Koni shocks, changed the exhaust back to the original non-cat euro version and swapped the overdrive trans back to the original dogleg sport box.
It also has wide angle, heated door mirrors, auxiliary oil tank, maplight mirror and trunk organizer. I also installed a NOS Blaupunkt Sydney cassette with a 10 disc changer in the trunk.
I’m now in the process of doing a Hartge H23 tribute/clone car. I purchased the Hartge head and valve cover from Board member M3Ryan. Motor Works in National City is going through the head. The cam was a little suspect so I bought a new chillcast semi finished blank from Paul Burke. Schneider Cams in Bay Park is regrinding it to H23 specs. It will also be getting Motronic 1.3 and Hartge headers. I have been collecting Hartge body pieces but I’m not sure how much of it will make it on the car. To be honest, I’m not crazy about their spoilers and trim pieces.
