2 M3's, 256 Miles, New England Foliage, and one fun day!

I know many of you have seen photos of Constructors cabrio.
Well this weekend we had a chance to take off for a foliage drive, and he brought his M3. We had a ton of fun, and I took ~200 photos, of which I've selected a few to share with you guys.

    Enjoy!

Please excuse the "cut and paste" post from my original on another forum...

I met Constructor in Concord around 7:30 in the morning, we fueled up, and hit the road! It was an ambitious plan, with over 200 miles of back roads to cover. An easy feat if you're pounding down the highway at 80mph, but not so simple over back roads through small towns. Add in the desire to stop and take photos along the way, and we figured it'd take pretty much the whole day... Our significant others somehow managed to get out of joining us on this little charade... So it was just the two of us, 2 M3's, and some awesome twisty roads.

Constructors car is the main star of these shots(Alpine White). It was a real pleasure shooting photos of a car that wasn't my own for a change. Not to mention the fact his car is ridiculously clean, and has around 70k miles on it, it was a real treat to see.

Our initial route took us out of Concord and into the surrounding towns on our way towards Plymouth, NH. This bridge was in the middle of an old "working" town that has seen it's businesses decline. The tranquility of the river in the morning was too tempting to pass up for a photo.

It may look like we took a wrong turn and ended up on the seacoast of NH at a lobster shack, but it is actually just off the side of our route past Newfound Lake. Constructor saw a MB 2.3L Cosworth go by just before we pulled in. I hoped they would turn around, but no such luck...

I was very surprised by the appearance of this image. We are running very different front suspensions and wheel/tire combos, yet out heights appear very similar.

Zooom! Time warp 30 miles ahead and suddenly we're in the White Mountains on a little known back road with lots of turns and ups/downs. We traded cars for a short bit here, and that little bit reminded me of how wonderful the E30 M3 is on 16" wheels and tires.

I think I had my camera on the wrong setting... we took a lot of rolling shots, but the clarity of the shots just wasn't what I was looking for. Oh well, it's just an excuse for more "road testing"! :)

By this point my car was filthy, covered with dust and the wheels were dirty from brake dust. (What idiot runs Pagid Blues on the street? This guy.) Somehow, Constructors car never got dirty... :pimp:

Brrr. It was 38*F when we left Concord in the morning. It's now almost noon, and we're just getting into the thick of the Mt. Washington Valley. It's warmed up to a balmy 66*F, but the skies are crystal blue, there is no wind, and the sun is shining and warming everything up. We pulled into the Mt. Washington Hotel for a quick photo stop. Sadly, the hotel changed ownership 2 years ago, and for better/worse (depending if you're a guest or not), you are no longer able to drive up to the hotel. You must park and take a shuttle up unless you're a hotel guest. So, we just took some quick photos and headed on our way.

This is just to show the snow that had accumulated on the mountain the night before. Off to the left is part of the hotel, and you can see the Cog Railway track running up the mountain as well. To quote Mr. Ferris Bueller, "If you have the means, I highly suggest you pick one up...." - Staying at the Mt. Washington is a wonderful experience. I typically spend 4-5 days there a year in the fall. I can't suggest it highly enough if you're looking for a nice secluded retreat with quiet entertainment.

After this we put the hammers down, and headed for Conway. We were both in serious need of food, so that took priority over photos. Our journey then took us around the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee, and through a Shaker Village as we headed back towards Concord.

    It was a great day.

Beautiful cars and nice shots. Wish I could be up there now, NH is gorgeous in the fall time. Were the on road pictures taken on Rt. 302 or 112?

Thanks for sharing, both cars look amazing!

Nope, obviously just off 302 for the Mt. Washington shots though...
It's another back road up there I like to keep secret. ;)

We were probably about 1 week late to get full foliage colors, a lot of the trees had switched past the red/orange/yellow stage and were heading to brown. Still, a perfect weather day for the drive!

                  Thanks for the kind words.

It was incredibly cute. We laughed, we cried, we hugged... a lot

                            Chris's car is gorgeous:

It also sounds ridiculously sweet. I should have had better rolling shots of it, but I was hypnotized by the sound of it screaming down the road.
