My 86 325es.

Hey Guy's,

I've been "hanging" around for a month or so now and decided I'll post a few pics of my E30. 1986 325es here. 186k on the odo but the PO thinks it has around 240k on it as the odo no longer works. Perfect car to drive back and forth to work. Fun to drive in Memphis traffic and not too bad on gas. I've replaced the rear bumper filler, replaced the shift knob/boot, added Hella low beams, magnaflow muffler and chiped the computer. Drive shaft is next on the "needs attention" list. All of the PO's seem to have taken care of it and the t-belt was replaced about 40k ago so I will takle that next spring.

Nice car, man. POs seemed to like the appearance of more performance, with the '87 IS front valance and the M badge.

I guess so. The IS valance is a keeper. Although I don't like to be a "poser" with the M badge, I am scared to remove it. The car has been sprayed before and if I remove the badge, it may leave a "ghost image" of where it was. The PO was an aircraft mechanic and I think he cared about the car a lot. They just bought another BMW and did not need this one anymore. He put the "FLY" tag on the front and I thought it fit the character of the car so I left it. He was wanting to know what all I planed on doing to the car. I think he was worried I might "rice" it out or something but I'm not into all of that. Even though it's an es, my other DD is a 07 Yaris so the es feels like a muscle car compared to that.

Interior

I'm guessing this is the "cardinal" interior. I'm not sure if the black door pulls are stock though. What do you think? The seats are in pretty good shape other than the piping fraying on the drivers side bolster which is about 2.5" worth. The dash is cracked too but I'll replace that when the funds are available. Sorry for the cell phone pictures, I'm at work and my EOS XTI is at home.

Maybe. Most people (this geographic area) are none the wiser, so outside of myself and you guy's, no one else knows the difference. Granted, "you guy's" have the right to point it out more so than the average person though. From what I have read, enthusiast back in the day would put the badge on to signify they own a E30 for what it is and not just because it's a BMW? It's been on there for a long time because it's not so "shiny" anymore.

It's been painted before and the emblems masked off. If I remove it, it will leave a mark where it was. Removing it will generate more questions than leaving it there.

If the paint where original, I would remove it. Hell, I might try it anyway. If it looks jacked, I'll just put it back on. You know it adds like 50 wheel hp, right? lol.

all the factory cardinal interiors i've seen have cardinal door pulls.

The PO was from Lakeland TN. That was his tag on the car when I took the picture. I'm from DeSoto county MS, right under Germantown across the state line.
