Whomever told you that was wrong. 235/40/17 is slightly oversized for the E30. This is made worse if you run some of the "larger" brands. They do fill the wells nicely though. 215/40/17 is a tad undersized but closer to the proper diameter of the stock wheels on the E30...at least on the E30 M3. There are many advantages of running 215's over 235's if you don't need the extra width of the 235's.

thanks guys, ill try some 215/40/17 when these die. The difference in OD between the 215 and 235 ranges between .5in to .8in so I can feel how they would make a difference in acceleration. I do love the grip of these tires though95 7.1L 16V E36 M3

When you don't have a stock M20 it's not as noticeable when you're running bigger wheels/tires. Trust me, I've been through many sets.Comment
