    New member here...

    Hello!

Just wanted to create an official newcomer thread and figured that this would be the place to do it (mods I apologize if it's not - feel free to move it to the correct location you see fit). Over the past couple of months I've been wanting to jump into the BMW world, and was contemplating anything from an E30 M3 or standard E30 3 series, to an e36 M or e46 M. Eventually I decided to go the e30 route and debated as to whether or not I should start a project from the ground up, or purchase a car already built and was up to my standards!

I decided that I wasn't really wanting to start another project from the ground up after recently finishing a 3 year project doing this:

After keeping my eye on e30's for sale, I fell upon Halston's beautiful 1988 325IS. I went through his build thread, and saw that he was quite meticulous when it came to modding the car, and knew right there and then that I wanted to be the future owner. A couple of weeks later - after Halston was generous enough to deliver the car half way across the country - the car was in its new home here in Chicago.

By far the most challenging aspect of owning the car is keeping it in the same condition it arrived in due to our much harsher weather and general environment (corrupt state and terrible roads yay). It's going to be a game of constant washes and rust protection.

Having spent the past 12 years of my life turning wrenches, I can assure you all the car will be well maintained, modified and driven. I will eventually begin a project thread with intentions of beginning where halston left off. Turbo, Paint job, possible changes here and there etc.

Anyway, looking forward to being a part of the crowd around here, and hopefully I'll meet some new faces.

I love Halston's old car. Great start.

I didn't realize he was selling it, and he had quite a few plans... do you know what he's up to now?

I do indeed. That being said, I'm not sure if he prefers to surprise the community or not, so I probably should keep my mouth shut :)

PB's were one of the things I was going to consider first, but I just dont know...the DB's just have a certain appeal to them when it comes to the color of the car/rims etc.

A bumper tuck would look good. BTW love the color :D

Indeed. First and second gear were a wash. The rest? They redefined "squirrely" even at half throttle =D. It was a great car, but I had owned it for 7 odd years and wanted a change.

Something about diving boards works on this car. I feel the same way about mine... it's a weird feeling but they grow on you. Plus they are indestructible for parallel street parking.

Congrats on the purchase! I've been wondering who got a hold of that car.

I want more details on the Mazda! :)
