ive messed with it a bit, it wouldnt be the material id go to for something like this. cut to shape PVC sheet would have been just as inexpensive, easier to work with, and provided a better result.

its your car do what you want, i do things to my cars people dont agree with, but id never cut a corner. good builds are in the details IMO.

    cheers!

yeah, I will. I hope to do the OBX trip as well. I have to make a little boom box so I won't go totally crazy on the way up, but I sure will make it. You coming to vintage?

I've always learned that you should leave about 2-3" of excess before you lay the cloth. This was 2 layers. I layed it over the HVAC panel, which I thought was more contoured than it was, I plan to redo it with 3 layers and angle the gauges a bit. You can even see they don't even sit straight across. lol

i was going to reply to this in a sarcastic manner again, but since you don't really know what you're talking about--500 shot would refer to the hp rating of the nozzle. I don't even think they make jets that big for street kits?

thanks. I'm going to redo it eventually. And this is prelim test-fit. I was tossing around the idea of getting rid of the HVAC panel completely, but I'm not entirely sure. I haven't found anyone who has really done that yet. I need to re-wire all the gauges, setup all my switches and setup my EDIS spark-cut so I can actually use launch control.

I expect during the summer I'll redo it to be perfect... I need to redo the floor too weld in some harness brackets. There's a lot to do, but it's never 'finished'.

you could have gotten a piece of scrap aluminum or stainless steel at a machine shop for $10.

Wow, you really saved a lot of money by doing it yourself. I don't know about you, but my time is worth much more than the $6 you saved by not buying a made-to-fit panel that doesn't look like green-spattered-anus.

In the end though, its your car, so carry on. Just don't expect too much praise from the r3v.

But I don't have a machine shop laying around my house. I had the mat, resin, paint and aluminum foil.

lol I just find it funny that so many people see this as a finished setup and not the proof of concept that it is.

thus the reason you have an m3 and I don't? actually, you'd like my license plate...

you're right. R3v would rather I have a cookie cutter--24v swap on GCs, amirite? I don't mind the negativity, it's the internet and I don't really care. This car is a project, and always will be. If I teaches me to work with composites, welding, fabrication or anything, it's done it's job. Hence the reason I enjoyed megasquirting it.

Understandable. Just mentioned it cause there are machine shops literally everywhere and I prefer metal bc it doesn't crack. much easier to fix if something goes wrong IMO. I give you props for doing it yourself bc the molding looks decent. You gotta understand tho, most people view threads in this forum to see the finished product. If not, everyone usually posts in the sub-"project forum" to show their progress. We're picture guys :P we don't look at messages like "it's not finished yet." haha
