It's an E36 for christsake. It's not like it's not a little similar, or there's a world of resources around you, or there are plenty of write-ups, tutorials, and manuals.....

it's not his car. and it's not common. it's not a bmw 3 or anything. (an 8, i might object a kid working on). Helping out on an E30, E34, E36 = who cares, fine as long as you're a half-wit.

Like I mentioned before, I would bitch slap my friend's dad if he was having his son work on the Lotus.

im going to take all the parts (i guess the flywheel too) to the auto parts store today to see what they say and if they can figure out what I can replace them with. I forgot to add i almost blew up the car when there was a spark from the bell housing hitting the positive battery terminal near the disconnected dripping fuel line

Look in the background of the garage. Does your father really buy those uncommon cars and not have the ability to work on them himself, or know a shop that can. Is his sole method of repair allowing his son to do a hackjob on his car??

Ah, someone is finally starting to dig a little deeper.

Chances are, Nick and his family have more money than they know what to do with - judging from the various photos he's provided us and the rare cars his father owns, it's a pretty safe bet.

Anyone ever see a rich kid working at Wendy's or the Gap, knowing full well they don't need to?

There's a good chance the parents want them to actually EARN something, in hopes they don't become spoiled brats. Sounds like dad here has more money than God, and can afford Nick to tinker on expensive toys like this, to help him learn how to wrench.

Some of us may have had the same opportunity, maybe on some of our first cars, where dad would let us do the repairs, but he's just getting lucky enough to work on this.

When you've got money, you can afford a learning process like this.

I just took the master and slave off of the car and cleaned them out and blew out the line with our air compressor, then put new fluid in. there were some chunks of something in it which might have been what caused it. I took it for a drive and on the freeway for its first time since our ownership and i definalty need to get some of those old school driving goggles! The clutch worked fine but only time will tell if it happends again, plus my dad hasnt driven it yet.
