    What are you talking about?

I'm hating on his dad letting his little kiddie wrench on his car.

If I wanted to hate on someone with something nicer than me, it'd be my friend with a Lotus Esprit.

And YES, I'd hate on him and his dad if he was an idiot and turning the wrenches himself.....18yo playing with daddy's car = teh bad.

      Daddy's car is a '99 318Ti. Somehow I'm allowed to help him out. I can't imagine why.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

Sorry, I don't quite understand how this is relevant. It's an E36 with a Bentley manual and actual knowledgable support on Bimmerforums, or UUCdigest.

I'm 18, and I help my dad wrench. Isn't that what you said you hated?

No, not unless you're special ed.

It's an E36 for christsake. It's not like it's not a little similar, or there's a world of resources around you, or there are plenty of write-ups, tutorials, and manuals.....

                  But:

it's not his car. and it's not common. it's not a bmw 3 or anything. (an 8, i might object a kid working on). Helping out on an E30, E34, E36 = who cares, fine as long as you're a half-wit.

Like I mentioned before, I would bitch slap my friend's dad if he was having his son work on the Lotus.

Wow. A professional should be working on that vehicle. You sound like a HACK.
THAT"S WHO I WANT WORKING ON MY CAR!

Look in the background of the garage. Does your father really buy those uncommon cars and not have the ability to work on them himself, or know a shop that can. Is his sole method of repair allowing his son to do a hackjob on his car??

Wow, I type more than Rob ever would, but you're a dumbass Nick. I hope you don't destroy it.

when the clutch pedal is fully returned should fluid be allowed to be pushed back through the system? because it doesnt

any ideas on what the culprit was to your problem?
mad props to you for doing all this in order to be able to drive it.....sounds like his dad may be putting him through a kind of test to see if he may be worthy of being able to drive it maybe.

Ah, someone is finally starting to dig a little deeper.

Chances are, Nick and his family have more money than they know what to do with - judging from the various photos he's provided us and the rare cars his father owns, it's a pretty safe bet.

Anyone ever see a rich kid working at Wendy's or the Gap, knowing full well they don't need to?

There's a good chance the parents want them to actually EARN something, in hopes they don't become spoiled brats. Sounds like dad here has more money than God, and can afford Nick to tinker on expensive toys like this, to help him learn how to wrench.

Some of us may have had the same opportunity, maybe on some of our first cars, where dad would let us do the repairs, but he's just getting lucky enough to work on this.

When you've got money, you can afford a learning process like this.

Good luck Nick, don't blow yourself up in the process ;)

I just took the master and slave off of the car and cleaned them out and blew out the line with our air compressor, then put new fluid in. there were some chunks of something in it which might have been what caused it. I took it for a drive and on the freeway for its first time since our ownership and i definalty need to get some of those old school driving goggles! The clutch worked fine but only time will tell if it happends again, plus my dad hasnt driven it yet.
