    Burgundrot! The official project.

Thought I'd post an official project thread. Despite the fact that she's not "burgundrot" anymore, I couldn't think of a better name. Besides I kinda like the irony. :D

    When purchased (2/2/11):

Here are the most up to date pictures (3/4/11):

    DashCap fitted:

So far, most of the restoration has been quick and dirty, and not what I'd consider to be permanent (at least not on the interior). But I had two goals: 1) to get in decent enough shape that I didn't feel like I was driving around bunch of nasty and 2) to give me a better idea of what I wanted to when I really start going at the interior of the car this summer.

So far I've replaced and/or painted lot of interior stuff. The interior was painted with duplicolor vinyl and fabric. As stated previously, it's not permanent, but it gave me a good of what I've been planning for the interior as far as colors.

Exterior has plainly been painted. It's a Maaco job (no sense in paying $4k for paint for a $900 daily driver).

Here's the list of what's been done so far (as far as improvements):

    - 17x7 Team Dynamics Pro Race 2 wheels
    - 8mm spacers
    - Yoko Parada tires
    - Misc. Interior (e.g., shift knob, leather boots, etc.)
    - DashCap
    - Paint
    - Carpet is dyed (black)
    - Blaupunkt Hamburg M68 (with Bluetooth! :D)
    - Pioneer speakers in the rear (soon to be replaced with Infinity everywhere)
    - 12" Infinity woofer with Fostgate amp

    Plans:
    - Full interior rework in leather
    - Tint
    - Coilovers (probably VMaxx, maybe JOM?)
    - IS valence (early)
    - Euro Bumpers
    - RS replica wheels
    - Blacked out trim
    - Body colored bumpers
    - Exhaust (suggestions please?!)
    - Probably more...

Nice paint job. Did Maaco do the engine bay, trunk, doors, etc? Did they use a BMW color?

I do not like that they painted the bumper trim. IMO, that looks sloppy, but that's just me.

    May I ask how much?

Always wanted to respray my car black, so just asking.

Also, how did you get your carpet so damn black. I like that.

Question... I've looked high and low for euro bumpers, and can't seem to find any. I'd prefer they not be in super-awesome-shiny condition, since I'm going to paint them.

Also... picked this up last weekend at a junk yard for $20. Needs some more cleaning and prep work before painting and fitment. I also need some new brackets. Anyone know where I can get some?

Came with working fogs, too. :)

Yeah, I wasn't happy with the bumpers either. They're redoing them on Monday. They're also supposed to take out a few runs and dust spots. Other than that it's decent. I mean it's not a multi stage job, but it is (or will be after Monday) a satisfactory job.

Total out the door is about $500. It was on sale for half off at the time, though.

I didn't have them do the trunk or engine bay, just the door jambs. Nobody but me will ever see those spots anyway.

Not sure about the color. I just told them "jet black".

Ouch rough. It looks fantastic now. I just picked myself up some pretty mint front black sport seats. Is it possible to take the sides off and place them on a tan sport seat for a "two toned" look? I've been wondering if it can be done and if it will look legit. Did you dye all this yourself?

This is my first time doing any exterior painting (I've done plenty of interior work), and my first time working with body filler, too. Working with the body filler was A LOT more difficult than I thought it'd be.

Thanks. I used Duplicolor. Purchased at O'Reillys. Beige is difficult to find, so might have to go to a couple stores. I think Advance Auto and Sherwin Williams Auto also carry it.
