    How's the 24v / 4.10:1 combo?

    I'm about to put in a slightly built S50 with a 4.10 out back. Just wondering if 1st gear is worthless....

      4.10 is worthless with an m20.

        2.93 LSD in my eta was really nice.

        car never felt like it needed an extra gear.
        AWD > RWD

            yea i was about to ask.... dependent on the gearing of the trans.


            I have an S50 on a Getrag240 + 4.1 LSD and it seems fine (for now)

                Meh... 4.10 will still have a worthless first gear. But, it should be fun.

                  ^^^ Looks like 1st will redline at around 32mph but will technically still top out around 150mph ish in 5th... That's fine with me. I'm not going to be tracking the car; just a DD

                  Getrag 260 Gear Ratios:

                  1st: 3.83
                  2nd: 2.20
                  3rd: 1.40
                  4th: 1.00
                  5th: 0.81

                  ^^ (According to wiki)

                  MY S50 is slightly built and red lines at 7100rpm

                    in my m50b25NV I liked the s3.91 I used.. had previously tried a 4.10 (small) and a 3.64 which I did not like

                      What does a 4.10 "medium" box come out of? I've only heard of big/small box.

                          325i E30 Automatics came with Med 4.10 LSD's while 5spd 325i's came with 3.73 med case LSD's.

                          My E34 M5 also had a 3.91, though I think it was a large case.

                          You can find small case LSD's in cars like E30 318's

                              I am basing this on nothing more than the cars' that I have personally owned.

                              My 5spd 325is had a 3.73; my E34 M5 had a 3.91; and my auto E30 325i has a 4.10
