Just bought my first BMW a few weeks ago. Already learning they're a lot of work - and I don't have a garage!... Oh well she's a blast to drive tho! I bought the car with a spare engine which needed to be installed, so I bought it undriven, just on a prayer that the guy wasn't full of Schmidt. Fortunately it was in decent running condition, though it does need a tuneup which I think I can handle myself after working on my '74 Ghia for years. No problem. It's a beautiful car.
If there is one absolutely necessary maintenance item, it's the timing belt. Sure there have been a bunch of belts that have lasted 100k+ miles, but in my opinion, unless you're really looking for an excuse to rebuild, bent valves aren't worth the risk.971-295-7077
