Bilstein HD's are stiff. They are the same as sports except with longer travel. Still that ride height isn't right, even for stock. My early 318 didn't even sit that high. You should look into M3 springs, they aren't terribly low they actually sit very nice, and would compliment the HD's well.

And if they are stiff like that it wont change the stiffness if you lower it... If I'm am understanding your scenario right. not to jack this thread or anything but I just found out that my brake master cylinder failed. the MC is 250 and the brake booster (which is proly shot too) costs 464 so 714 plus labor :'(. New wheels and ground control coils are going to have to wait D'': But most of all maybe no m50 swap this summer. fml

Unless you use really stiff springs the ride should actually improve. Stock springs are too soft for HD's. H&R Sports would be better suited but they sit too low. E30M3 springs should be perfect for that setup.

I'm on Bilstein and H&R race and I like it, although it's the only lowered setup I have ever had so I can't compare much. I daily it and I like it, although I've also been spending the years stripping the car of it's comforts and amenities.
