H&R Race springs; grocery getter status

H&R Race springs installed. No spring pads up front, both still there in the back. I'm not liking the optical illusion of reverse rake due to the lower rear arches, I'm gonna try drop hats then might have to go to hacking off a dead coil or so.

Still have 15" weaves to have refinished and go on, needs rust repair/body work next.

I want a touring bad. Yours looks great bud. And i second the drop hats. I have been thinking about getting some when i redo my struts on mine.

And as far as your rake, I notice your proper looking rake on the door trim before i notice the tire tuck revers rake.

Looks good. But your right about the rake it looks funny. Would look better with the kidney chrome IMO.

yep do drop hats. I did w/ my H&R Races, it helped a little, but honestly, why can't a spring manufacturer just make some dang springs that actually LOWERS the front end significantly?? It seems my rear is always too low, and the front isn't low enough, and I have both spring pads in the back, no spring pads in the front AND drop hats. And I still want to lower the front another inch.

because a lot of spring companies don't want you blowing your struts. Also they make their springs with cornering performance in mind, not so much aesthetics.

if you wanna go low, get coils. jump in that game come cutting this welding that moving things and cringing for your oil pan every time you drive your car

These springs have almost the same drop all the way around unlike others that lower the front more than the rear. It also doesn't help that you have a facelift model with lower rear arches. Many people have cut a dead coil out in the past but now we have the option of running drop hats.

This car will only see the track a few times a year, but I'll be driving it pretty much every day, and I do know I want the front to be lower. E90 hats and a dead coil off should do it. I see nothing wrong with losing one coil that's only there to fill space anyway, and if it's low enough I need to worry about the pan, skidplates aren't too expensive. Cheaper and easier to install than a new engine anyway.

Thanks for the compliments, comments and suggestions, guys. The car is way rougher than the pics let on but once it's actually warmer out I'm going to try some basic body work myself. The car is a project just getting it up to snuff let alone modifying it a great deal, but I'll eventually get all the maintenance done to keep it reliable while still being fun.

I've been running hr race for almost a year now with e90 drop hats up front. But the combo of cutting a dead coil and running drop hats dosent sound like a good idea. Specially since in my opinion if you want to go any lower than these springs you should go with a stiffer rate...There have been people who cracked the oil pan even with the skidplate on and so your taking a risk

It is because so that when you slam the brakes and the car dips forward, you wont rub and etc...
