Elsa Schwarz...sedan content. New on PG #2!!

Just picked up a 1991 325i sedan, 5sp, with over 300k, ODO stopped at 230k.

I'll let the pics do the talking, but for $500....I'm pretty happy!

I know it needs a valve adjustment. Sounds like an angry diesel. It leaks oil at the back of the head. After looking closely at it, seems to be the blind plug/valve cover gasket. Replacing those tonight after the valve adjustment. Got a full head gasket set just in case.

I also got a timing belt kit and WP, as the PO went, "I unno" when I asked when it was changed last.....fucking M20s....

Welcome to the 4 door schwarz club!

No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan.

I believe mine has outlasted yours already.

New timing belt and I should be good for another 120k....

Got up early this morning and came in before work to diag a misfire I noticed yesterday after getting the valves to quiet down a bit.

            Pulled the plugs:

All 6 are bridged in some way. Shitty pic I know, but I'm not gonna pull out the pro photographer inside me (if there is one) to take a pic of some shitty plugs.

Starting to realize this should probably have been posted in the project subforum, as it's becoming more of a project than I thought.

Gonna throw a new set in there and run it, pull 'em, and see what we can see. Hoping this was cause by the intake valves being wayyy out of adjustment. Probably will run some 44k or BG109 through there too.

Got a look up underneath her Friday when I did the timing belt.

                Pics:

Transmission mounts both sheared in half. One side of the brace wasn't even bolted up.

Anyone can just see what's wrong here....

Exhaust is just hanging by the muffler hanger. All other hangers look like this:

Also, got the timing belt done, which I wanted to do before driving it. Took it out for a spin, and BAM! white smoke out the back. Smelled sweet. So I'm looking at doing a HG on it this week. I've got a spare head so it'll be a tear down and throw together job. No big.

All the fuel lines are rotted out, hardcore. The one @ the filter is about to rupture, so that has taken priority.

Guibo is also pretty worn out, not the worst I've seen but still needs replacement. Anyone have experience with Revshift's urethane ones?

Found out it does have an LSD though. That kinda lightened my day. 8-)

We should have drove it to the shop. Why did we mess with towing it?

IDK....could have just blown that M20 up and swapped the M30 in. I'm too deep into the M20 now though....

No, I just put a lot of money and work into it and I hate it more but the Jew inside me doesn't want to waste all that time and money for nothing.

Believe me, it will get flogged on the track, hardcore. Dat M20 will drop rods out of the pan before it's over with....

I approve. Did you get over to do a compression test?

                              Dry compression test results:

                              #1=170
                              #2=150
                              #3=180
                              #4=190
                              #5=160
                              #6=180

I have no milkshake in the oil as per the dipstick/looking @ the valves during adjustment. None in the coolant I drained doing the WP/timing belt. I think I'm going to run it as is and see if it uses coolant/oil and report back, that is, after correcting the previously mentioned catastrophic issues.;)
