Hi guys thanks for the kind words and ravenous claiming of parts. :)
You guys hit the mark. I was blind-sided by a large SUV who blew through a red light at a decent clip. There was no way I could have reacted or reduced the impact in anyway. I had all green lights heading east to lake michigan. I was going maybe 30-35 just cruising in the middle lane. Out of the corner of my eye I see (what I believe was) the front grill of a newer silver jeep grand cherokee (i honestly have no idea what kind of car hit me) about 4 feet away from me. I didn't even have time to mentally say "oh shit" before it slammed into me. On impact I immediately lost my breath and it took what felt like an eternity to be able to breathe again. I knew once I got my bearing back that I was not in good shape.
The guy driving behind me stopped and gave his statement as a witness that we had green lights and the other driver was at fault.
I was put on a backboard and carted off to the hospital. I have some light glass abrasions on my left wrist and hand. I was wearing a heavy wool coat so that was pretty much the only vulnerable spot for the glass to cut me. Spent 9 hours in the ER and ended up with a broken hip/pelvis socket for my left leg. As well as bruising down the left length of my body. I can't walk and im going to be on crutches for the next 6-8 weeks.
As for the car it still really hasn't hit me. That was my baby and I still expect to see her in my garage :( Over the summer I had a lot of work done to her including an engine rebuild, new bilstiens/HR sports, new tranny seals, the underbody was sprayed, engine bay detailed, and all engine components were sandblasted and repainted. The wheels currently on the car look ok and straight (my father flew in from DC when he heard but due to my condition i havent been able to go see the car in person). and I have a second set of basketweaves in my basement with brand new toyos on em.
As for insurance, they said they would be able to reimburse some of the work we had done over the summer since it was pretty substantial. We also had every kind of insurance on the car (my dad figured why the hell not since it spent a month at a shopsaloon getting her nails did). Additionally I have a fat ass binder full of every receipt and work manifest since 1991.
Uhhhhhh, lets see.. its been 4 days, I finally was able to take a shower and it felt amazing. My girlfriend is basically acting as my nurse since I am pretty limited in what I can and cannot do. I imagine it will be another few weeks until I here what insurance wants to do with the car and how much i'll be able to buy it back for. So I'll be keeping the status updated here as well as on BF.C.

I'm glad you're not more seriously injured. A broken pelvis is pretty bad but head trauma could be worse. Seeme you put a lot of work into that beauty, hope you'll stick around r3v and let us know how it comes out. Best of luck to you!sigpic

^^It sucks to hear what happened man, it was a beautiful car. Hang in there, it seems like you have all your ducks in a row to take care of the accident and hopefully insurance, hope you get well quick man!Originally posted by Wh33lhopIf you actually stay within your budget, you are not a true car enthusiast. Glad your ok but i would lose it with the car. I know they can be replaced but we get attached to them so easy.My dad took the same kinda hit back in 2004 but the guy was going 50 mph and the hit was more towards the a-pilar/door hinge area. Really glad you made it out without worse injuries than you do have. I hope you get your money back out from your insurance company.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

OkBranko, I am very glad to hear you are alive and recovering. When I got out of class, my jaw dropped at the sight of your beautiful M3 (which I been seeing alot downtown lately) with such substantial damage. I believe I saw a black Ford Expedition or Explorer with the front smashed in at the scene of the accident, which may be the cause of your troubles. Quite the mismatch in an accident with an E30. I hope everything works out for you, and get well soon!Comment

Sucks what happened to your car. Looked to be well maintained. Glad to see your typing after 4 days, but its a sad day when an E30 M3 is lost.sigpicComment
