    I just picked up 6 of these. So far I really like hacking up the cig lighter and placing on in there. I also like the idea of having them semi-hidden, so maybe I can find a place in the glovebox or someplace else that will work.

    Just ordered four! I have an old iPod (click wheel) that I'm going to install permanently in my e30. This will be perfect for it since the battery is useless on that thing.

    Well the max amperage these can supply is 1 amp each.

    The stock wiring there is good to 20 amps Id guess, people run inverters off their cig outlets all the time.

    And Bernzspeed, good idea. Ill grab one next time Im at the local yard and try it.

    factory button to use is the window lock switch all that is doing it cutting power connection on and off, ie switch

    There is a blank factory button that fits there.
    Why not have them run all the time? The LED won't drain your battery.

    The current draw is really low. I think I used 18ga wire... just bc we had scrap laying around.

    No room on the bottom of the ashtray.

    I think my placement, or in the back wall of the little console tray is the best spot.
