Just an FYI, make sure you're good at soldering before attempting this. The board is very small and requires some precision. My friend (an EE) did all the soldering for me bc I suck at it.

Also to make the holes, I used a drill bit and then a dremel to trim them. The units are just compression fit and are very snug. The shrink wrap on the inside keeps them from coming out even with force.

Haha, of course I see this thread when my iPhone is at 10% battery and I have to be out somewhere for a few hours.

Exactly why I installed them. Plus the cigarette lighter is constant power so even with the car off it'll charge two phones.

Discovered the best use for these today.

              IPhone charging in driver's port.

Jawbone charging in passenger's port. Mine's dead half the time bc I always forget to charge it.

I didn't really take any pictures of the process. It's pretty easy though. I had to have my friend do the soldering though bc I suck at it and the positive terminal on the board is pretty small.

For power, I just used wire taps and tapped into the cigarette lighter.

Guys, really. Just plug this into your cig-light socket. These have been around forever - it's what the OP is using. They are $2 shipped @ deal-extrream.

Best of all, no hacking up your interior. But...I'm not responsible for your battery getting drained.

Hi, I would like to know how you did the wiring and could you post some photos, please.

                        Thanks.

                            ^^^

                            That's exactly what I'm using.

I wanted something more permanent. I tried just plugging it into the cig lighter port, but it would come out every time when I pulled the USB cord. I wanted something more permanent... and one for the driver and passenger (arguing about who deserves the charger sucks haha).

Not too worried about battery drain. Each has a tiny LED on the board for the light. I left my old cigarette lighter iPhone charger plugged in for years with a brighter light and never had issues.

If you crack one open and it isn't glaringly obvious how to wire it up, you probably don't solder well enough to get it to work properly; the board is pretty tiny. Well, I guess I knew where to solder, but still suck at it.

You can always just leave it in original form and just plug it in the cig lighter port.

I went to Fry's a bought a 2 different kinds of USB port and one of them had 4 wires on them is why I asked for the wiring. But if I just used the cig. loghter thingy, there are only 2 wires, right?

I am doing this project today.
