Thanks guys! And Eric, thanks for the info, If I do stick with an E28 rally car, I will def do those mods. I want to be able to hit the jump without slamming frame.

You should make a craigslist ad with one of the pics and see how long it takes to get on here.

ha ha what do you mean? Like an ad selling my E28 with only rally pics? That is actually a hilariously good idea, since i AM going to sell my E28. I wonder if that kind of marketing would work:

"buy this E28 because look how bad-ass it is"

Keep the E28, it already looks at home in the dirt.

You know what I think... you already own it, price paid notwithstanding. It has a crappy interior but a solid drivetrain. The body is OK but not great. If that's not a recipe for a rally car, I don't know what is!

Plus, I can endorse it because it's slower than mine...

If I kept it, it wouldn't be slower for long! I would immediately start looking for an M30B35 drivetrain. 208 hp and 225 ft-lbs!

                      3100lbs/208 hp = 14.9 lb/hp

                      Mine:

                      2200lbs/175hp = 12.6 lb/hp

Of course I would gut the crap out of it too, and your M20 is rated at 168 from the factory, not sure how much hp that chip is adding though, also, M30B35 has 225 ft-lbs, which is significantly higher than the M20. But dumb argument. What really matters is what i can get my hands on for the cheapest.

3100 lbs assumes you can make it 300lbs lighter than an E28 M5. And I figured the chip, throttle body, air filter, and exhaust could give me 7hp combined. As much as it may cause controversy on an E30 forum, I have to say it:

An E30 may be better than an E28 for a performance application .

                            epiphany!

ha ha jk man! Yeah no doubt, stock and stock, the E30 performs better than an E28 in every way, that is a well known fact. However, it was you that suggested me keep the E28. You know me, I would rather have an E30 any day!

That looks like so much fun, do you guys do any of the stages rallies out there in Colorado or just mostly rallycross? This makes me want to go work on my Mini Cooper rally car.
