Well some might know the car and the previous owner but I am happy to take it over and do some fun stuff with it. The ride home was eventful but at the same time fun. Left Atlanta and got the E30 at 8:30 EST. The E28 diff installed(3.25S) was known to be failing but the mileage since it was making noise was thousands upon thousands of miles so I thought nothing of taking it home. Payment was made and off we roll with a new to me 87 325iS and behind me a 325e.
We roll down I24 and Mike Burroughs flies up out of no where and we pull off and bullshit. Good to see an old friend that I haven't seen in years at this point. Back on the highway and 25 miles later all hell breaks loose! The normal whine of the diff goes to a roaring noise and smoke starts to billow out of the back of the car. My friend said it was like driving through fog! We get off and inspect and it appears most of the fluid is now on the diff, the spare tire well and the subframe. It blew up nice! Call Mike and limp to the house of stance! 5:30am and a nice 3.15S w/ M Coupe cover provided by the PO was installed after a run to Wal-Mart. Made it home after that and taking it out this evening to our weekly meet.
