Finally someone can say their car has a v6, and when people chuckle, they can pull this card. :)

how hard was it to mate the ford trans? also how did you modify the motor mounts to go from a fwd setup to rwd?

what i did to mate the engine and trans was used a bellhousing from a 1994 chev s10 2.2l. 94-95 s10s came with a borg warner t5, same bolt pattern as the ford t-5 and by doing this i retained my fwd flywheel. im using a spec stage 3+ clutch that was a custom order. used a pressure plate from the s10, and clutch disc of a mustang. as for the engine mounts they were custom made, ill have pix of those when i remove the engine for brake/ fuel line installation. it will be a quick car, around 500ish hp/torque should be a fun ride until somethin in the rear of this car breaks.

fwd timing cover and intakes were not flipped 180* yet (just the upper).

the ford tranny is pretty short, cut the opening 3 inches forward to fit the shifter assembly.

Ah, I see you cam to the e30 forums, Mr. Midnightrider.

Taking bets on how long the t5 will last with 400wtq. I watched Vorshlag's lm7 (ls1) e30 eat thier 3rd or 4th one at the GRM Challenge.

Can't want to see the drive-shaft situation.

This same combo (to4e, not Holset) was making 350whp/400tq at 3500rpm when the trans exploded - in a Chevy Corsica we turbo'd. It went 12's with over 2.0 60's, FWD FTL. Motor weighs just 300lbs dressed and that trans weighs 57lb (lighter than m42/g240).

Mars just ran an 11.2 with the 60v6 in a Camaro.

wow, I had no idea that people did stuff like that to Cavaliers. I had a 1986 Z24 with a 4 speed back in 97 and thought it was actually a decent car other than the digital dash that always went crazy.

                    props to you man!

Pardon my ignorance, but isn't the 3400 the engine that was known for blowing headgaskets often?

I can't tell you how many e30's advertised having a 'v6' i saw when i was looking for mine...i never even emailed them.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Lower intake manifold gasket had a bad composition for a couple years. Everyone thought the HG's were blown but coolant passes by the lower intake/cam valley. Coolant would mix with oil, yet have full compression. Rubber gaskets replacements have been available for years to correct it. The stock graphite gasket has seen spikes as high as 21psi with 9.1:1 (18 sustained) in my experience, but MLS or o-ring is the way to go.
