How long have you owned your ///M Eric?

    Keep up the good work
I purchased it in May of this year (after wanting one for years) from Bob Talbot on the SIG list. I contacted him about the car within a hour or so of him posting it for sale on the SIG. Two days later I bought it sight unseen-luckily, it has turned out to be a great purchase!

Wow, that sounds very similar to my E30 purchase. I wanted one for a long time and contacted the seller the very day the ad was posted on the BMWCCA chapter classifieds....only it was the neighboring chapter of a different state. I got a cashier's check and was ready to exchange cash for the keys. Then it was a long 4 hour trip to pick up my car..... and a fun 3.5 drive home.

      Anywho.....
      Dinan ECU chip
You may want to think about switching to Jim Conforti (Offered by Turner Motorsport - http://www.turnermotorsport.com) I've heard people say that the Dinan chip is dangerous to use with the E30 M3. You could sell that and buy a JC chip.

Actually, I believe it is the other way around. The Jim C. chip has a very aggressive map for the E30 M3. There have been a number of people on the SIG list that have used the Jim C. chip and have complained about pinging in the 3-4k RPM range-and this was with using the proper octane fuel. The chip makes nice HP and torque gains, it is just very aggressive. The Dinan chip is not as aggressive, but still gives decent results without any danger of pinging. I would prefer to have the performance gains of a Jim C. chip, but I do not want to risk damaging my S14-it's just not worth it!

I did install a Jim C. chip in the 325is and I was very pleased with the results!

Now, to answer a few of the questions that some of you had-

The Ronal ACT-LS wheels are 15x7.5 with a total offset of either 28 or 29 with the included spacers. They were purchased in 2001 before Ronal had their final production run of the ET25 wheels with the deeper lip and no spacers.
Thanks ! I was wondering why some Ronal ACT's looked different (i.e. fatter lip vs. not so fat lip).

Both of those cars are stunning ! And yes, lets see the E36 M3/4 when you get a chance.

Dinan chips will eat the engines internals from the inside. it is a JUNK map that they used. you are better off using the stock chip. Post on the SIG and you will learn that the DINAN chip is NOT the way to go. Many people have had issues with it. If you are worried about pinging then you need to get the stock chip back into the car.
I run a Jim C on my 2.5L and its fine. it won't make a huge difference once I install my MAF and then I can tune around it, but don't use that POS Dinan chip any longer man!

That is the first time I have ever heard that regarding the Dinan chips. My understanding on the reason that the Dinan chip was not the way to go was that its gains were not as much as the Jim C., plus the fact that it only altered under full throttle conditions (at least the early revisions were like this). I will do some more research on the SIG regarding the Dinan chip and what you have mentioned. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

yeah, both those cars are incredible!

                        did you detail them?

does anyone know of a good manual, website, book on the basics of how to detail?? i mean something that tells you what to use polish, carnuba, how long to leave the wax on, how much pressure/lack of pressure to use with a buffer, etc.?

                        thanks
