Good news everyone, the engine is in.
Today was spent finishing up the lower half of the transmission.
We took the bottom cover off to change the filter; it is the square thing in the pictures. Only after close inspection did I even know what it was. It takes odd 6 point stars to take off the three bolts that hold the filter on.
After that was changed we mated the engine to the transmission. Which is much easier than mating a manual transmission but, it still weights a ton.
Getting the engine in was no small task. My dad didn’t want to raise the car up on stands so trying to get the transmission into place was murder.
Plus, make sure the weight is supported in the right spot. At first we had the bolts in the block in the wrong spot, causing the engine to sit flat instead of slanted like it needs to be. This made the transmission not fit in the tunnel.
Use the bolts in the spots shown here to make it easier to drop in.
I love the interior.
love that everything is as new.
Im sad that at the end of all of that you put a 3 speed auto. Not only that, its going to last for years.
The pictures tell such a story because the parts are so clean but the ugliest picture ive ever seen is a brand new 4hp22 that will never die.
Its kind of like a porno that ends with a episode of friends.
Im jealous! You got lucky! The car I picked up had a snapped timing belt only one rocker arm broke on the intake side, that rocker shaft was bent, all exhaust valves were bent, and to top it off all 6 piston heads had scores in them.
But hey She looks good!
