On The Fence: 92 325i Vert

So I dropped my car off at the shop today to have the starter replaced, and I saw this nugget in one of the bays. It is a 92 325i with 155K, 5-speed, 2nd owner with 6+ years of service records, re-upholstered seats, no rips in top & fairly clear window, BBS RS003's, Laguna Green (been resprayed with some peeling / clearcoat issues), and the timing belt / water pump / clutch was replaced within the last 2 years. The dash is totally cracked to hell (has a cover on it), the ac panel is broken (easy fix), and the power top does not work.

So I asked if the wheels were for sale, and the guy said the owner is looking to sell the car. I have an 89 325i coupe right now (that I love), but I am on the fence about buying it and making the swap to a vert. Or I could just keep the RS003's, slap my refinished weaves on, and resell the car.

At any rate - how much would R3V members offer on the whole car as it sits?

Yeah, it is a pretty clean/straight car. How much would you offer to buy it for?

It's a 'vert. You can put no price on being able to fold back that top and say to yourself, "I am the fucking man."

^ This. That thing is clean as hell! I'd say down there you could probably see upwards of 5k for it.

My dad's got a laguna 1992 318 'vert. Bought for $500, put $3k into fixing the smashed rad supports (went under a tractor trailer), and we still feel confident we could nab $5k all day for it.

              Project 'vert.

Kind of a father-son project where the father supplies the finances, son fixes, then father owns/drives the car.

Just reminded me I need to get some polished up pics going to finish that thread off....

This would probably be a better option though. Lagun green is the awesome.

Nice, see what they want for the car. Then determine if it's worth it for you.

Anything up to $5500 is worth buying that vert.

sold my 90' for $3500 with a clean top and some rotas

I'd say you'd do much better with a 92' in a cool color with some BBS

I went to look at the car, and I talked to the owner. He will take $3400 for it. I'm going to pass, but if anybody is interested pm me and I will give you the guy's phone number.
