I actually went onto ebay and started looking for some quality leather shift and e-brake boots and found those for a pretty decent price. I think I paid in all $32 shipped and they are definitely good quality.

Most of the ones on ebay look cheap because the stitching is off color. Can you check your ebay history for the seller ID?

But I deal with what I got and I love what I have ;)
          Good statement.
I think the M42 is good enough to have fun with without any tuning.
Before putting in a single cent into tuning, rather upgrade worn out parts.
Talking about waterpump and all that stuff.
Also, it may makes more sense to switch for another engine if you really want more power, instead of tuning the M42.
Because on the other side you get more power that way for less money...
Finally I think into an 318is belongs the M42.

          So you are from Washington-state?
Then you are able to make some nice nature photos of your car. :)

Ya I'm thinking about getting a Mark-D chip for the engine but other than that my plan is to just run this engine till she is no more and then search for an M52 or S50. I would like some more power because even though the M42 is fun to drive, I would like something with a lot more kick.

But I'm not interested in a new motor anytime soon. Just sticking to the maitanence of the engine and making sure everthing works right before doing anything drastic. My next big project is replacing the bushings on the rear sub frame and I'm deciding on whether or not to buy a whole new sub frame or just replace the bushings. But for the summer I do plan on some tint and new wheels and tires! :)

And yes, born and raised in Washington and I have already picked out some spots to take some pictures of the car. I've got a friend who is a great photographer and she will do it for free for me since I don't own a nice enough camera haha.

But thanks guys for all the comments! Glad to see my car is getting some more liking towards it!

Seller ID is topgaiters. This seller has a good history and great product. As you can tell with my boots. And for both the shift and e-brake boot it cost me $17 plus $9.99 shipping. Not too bad.

                Hope that helps you out!

Your thread is just as interesting, as any other, meant to be in a good way.
You seem to be kinda in the same situation like me, young, low on money, still trying to keep an old E30 alife, or is it alive?
So to me it is always interesting to read through threads like this.
Did you already clean the engine and engine bay by the way, it really looked like it needs some treatment, in case you care for that.

Thanks. I already know that seller he has multiple listings for the E30 boots. Some look good others not so much. I'm guessing it's the 2nd link for the $17.99 one.

Thanks, and yes she is alive. She is my DD and I was planning on saving up for a beater car so I could work more on it but I've decided to go into the Navy Reserves this fall to help my chances for my future career. And the engine bay still needs to be cleaned up. I hate looking at it whenever I open up the hood. But I do plan on repainting the intake manifold and face template whenever I get the chance. It will definitely be this summer when I do this but it's one of the other things on my list of things to do.
