Until 86 they had a 2.79 I believe (still LSD in the es model)
Both my e30s have the same production date! What a coincidence.

What, I thought that any eta engined cars were equipped with a 2.93, the es just had a LSD?.
Yes, thank you! hate seeing a clean car parted out.Originally I planned to just use some parts from it and part out the rest, but after seeing just how clean the interior was, and how little rust it had, I just couldn't bring myself to do that.Leave a comment:

no bias from you I'm sure hahaha
but I'd need euro bumpers just like you. so sexyLeave a comment:

That's what I'm thinking. The coupe is so much cleaner and doesn't have half the problems that the sedan does with its body and suspension. I guess I'll just do that and part the four-door.Leave a comment:

So yesterday was a happy day for me
Found this guy between a lot of junk cars

It had been there for a while

But, it was a 325es! And, it is an 87 (so 2.93 rear LSD not the longer 2.79!) Cool beans!
Am I lucky?......

Nope :(
But then I did get lucky
Mtech1 wheel

13 button OBC

Immaculate door panels, roof, check panel, AND map light mirror!

Plus a black on grey interior, only a few small stains, and a working sunroof.
With a little love and a 225amp jolt it cranked but wouldn't start. Jumped the fuel pump relay, tried again, and viola! Erratic idle and searching was cleared up with a can of seafoam split between oil, gas, and vacuum hose. It now idled much better and without searching, and run right to redline without hesitation.
I had been told it had transmission problems (boo, automatic), but it appeared to be driven to where it was sitting (up a curb), so I figured it couldn't have been too bad, maybe I could even drive it home. Nope, the only gear that worked was park, the rest were just another spot for neutral. Checked and it had fluid. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to tow it.
Towing it back on my friend's featherlite trailer.

In it's temporary home, until I decide what to do with it.

Originally I planned to just use some parts from it and part out the rest, but after seeing just how clean the interior was, and how little rust it had, I just couldn't bring myself to do that. I found an m20b25 just about 2 hours away that I might pick up later this week, and I'm still searching for a 5 speed, but after that, I can't decide if I will part out the four-door or just keep both (not that I need a third car.......)
And then I came home to this:

So, to say the least, yesterday was quite a good day.Last edited by squidmaster; 08-13-2013, 10:50 AM.Leave a comment:

Picking up another e30 on Monday or Tuesday! Black Coupe 1986 325es with black sports seats and some other goodies. Only problem: autotragic :(
No big deal I'll likely end up parting it out and using the important parts (2.7l bottom end with another m20b25 complete engine that I'll be picking up, LSD and a few other parts) on one of the other four E30's that me and my buddy have.Leave a comment:

Went ahead and decided to ditch the leaking stock headers. Couldn't find any good deals on brand name ones so just went with OBX. Had them on my old 2000 impreza 2.5rs and were actually better build quality than some of the brand names (namely Borla), so didn't feel too uncomfortable buying them. Also bought a vibrant stealth muffler. My exhaust now is too loud for my liking, and after hearing some videos on youtube of the stealth, it seemed perfect.
also just put in a new(ly found, used) AC compressor. It better work. My legacy will be in another city for a few days (wifey taking it to visit family because it gets 35 on the highway) so I'll be stuck with her hoopdie old corolla or my 30. I think I'd rather drive the 30 ;)
Thanks! Your project is coming along very nicely as well!Leave a comment:

Nice save! Keep up the good work. I'm currently saving a real '91 brillantRot mtechnic that was left in a garage for 4 years. Hope to see your 30 completed soon.Leave a comment:

Got a new one, gave it a refurbish, gave it a test (perfect resistor transition and range).
Did a bit of a refresh to the gauge cluster. Managed to knock out the speedo needle when I was putting it back in the dash apparently so now I have to rip it out again and fix that....

At first I was against the chrome trim, but after seeing it more often it grew on me.Leave a comment:

My AFM is trash! I need a new one asap.
I was having some seriously bad hesitation the past few days so I yanked out the multimeter and gave it a test. Ranged from 400ohm to over 12kohm, with at least 50% dead space (no reading whatsoever)
Wow. So. Next item.Leave a comment:

Oof, just splurged and emptied my paypal account + a little.
New rotors/pads, motor mounts, and some bushings for the e34
New adjustable FPR, and some other goodies for the e30 >:]
after a new tune for it I can no longer get any grip in first gear if I go wot. That means it's time for new tires!Last edited by squidmaster; 02-24-2013, 07:00 PM.Leave a comment:

I reupholstered my carpets! Two days of work and it's still not done.
from this:

To this:

Also here are my compression numbers:
125
133
138
130
125
125
I was only expecting around 120, to be honest! Low compression ratio (8.5:1) should only make about 125psi of pressure.Last edited by squidmaster; 02-11-2013, 08:47 AM.Leave a comment:
