    New Zinnoberrot 1989 325i Vert

Just dropping in. I just picked up this new ride to replace my wifes 69 Triumph Spitfire we just sold (baby can't find in a 2 seater). She is a 325i Auto convertible. The body is nearly mint inclouding underbody. Only real issue I have found is the battery tray which appears to have been cut away as there is no rust elsewhere. I bought the car with a cracked timing belt which lead to some minor bend valve and broken rocker issues. I had her towed in Thursday, pulled her into the garage with the lawnmower on Saturday morning and pulled the front of the engine apart and pulled the head. I ordered up a full head gasket and bolt kit as well as timing kit with waterpump etc. I am working on finding a rebuilt head as it seems like a better cost than rebuilding mine.

The plan is to finish the engine rebuild and take care of any issues the car may have come up. Plan to keep it stock as this will be the wifes once a week perfect weather summer driver.

The front seats were replaced by the previous owner he claimed they were from an M3 but I don't know about that one. I am tryign to locate a rear that matches these for the vert as the current is cracked up a bit and I would love to have them match.

Since this is my first post I will toss a little more out there. As stated this will be the toy for nice days. My wife dd's a 2004.5 S40 T5 auto, I daily a 2005.5 (b7) S4 6-speed. We live in northern the detroit area.

That is a little wierd. Can you tell me what they are from then? They are pull power heated seats that is about all I know right now.

Welcome aboard. The only way your gonna have a matching back seat is if someone redoes them like the fronts. I may be wrong but I think those fronts may be from a 325is. M3 seats look like the cabrios originals.

M3 seats are liek vert seats which have the horizontal stitching (similar to your backs). Those look so nice I'd guess they were reupholstered or taken out of a non M or vert car (because the stitching is vertical). Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Also, they came with seat heaters? I don't think that was a stock option (pointing to reupholstery?)

Just my two cents. Hope it helps. I'm a big stickler for interiors and yours looks to be in great condition. Pics of the back seats and the dash?

No pics of the dash right now but it is non-warped and not cracked, great condition. The rears are a mess right now. they have the typical dry aging and the crack that is seams every vert has at the top of the rear.

As for the heaters. the PO claimed they were wired up in the seats like they were stock. he had to change a few things and added this nasty switch block for the heaters. If I end up keeping these seats I need to take care of the switch block pretty quickly.

Overall I am really happy with the car, I found a reciept for about $1k worth of work done within the past 6 months and another for about $200 from pelican parts for new roundels, top struts, interior handels etc. I also know that the guys did his own full set of brakes, put a new battery in and replaced the exhaust with something aftermarket within the past 6-9 months. The car is really ready for the engine and some minor clean up and she will be good to go.

These are from about a year ago when I bought the car. It now has RS6 rims on it instead of the RS4 Reps.

Also if there is a set of seats to love it is those Recaro's they are so comfortable.

It looks sweet, I can't wait to get my hands on an avant. Any performance mods done to it?

S4 is stock, no real plans it is my daily so I need to keep it pretty tame for work. I would love to have picked up and Avant, they just happne to run about $5k more than sedans and I wasn't really into spending the additional when I bought this car and Igot too good of a deal on my S4 to pass up.

Nice vert. As stated above, the fronts are sport seats, but not from an M3 or a vert. You can't get a perfectly matching rear seat because leather vert seats have the same horizontal stitching as your current rear seat. Four-cylinder verts did have verticle stitching, but they only came in vinyl.

its an 89, so it came with projectors. get a set of HIDs. $50. ddmtuning.com

im sure you can find a set of tan cabrio sport seats. tan interiors are not that highly valued.

I think I will be looking for that soon. I was hoping to be able to get a good value out of the seats in there if I couldn't find matching rears and use that to buy fronts and a new cover for the rear.
