I have been lurking here for a while and I finally got tired of not being able to post when I had something to add so I joined up today and figured I'd do a little intro.

In the middle of this summer a buddy and I picked up 3 e30's. a 1987 325is, a 1989 325i, and a 1991 318is. The 325i is my buddies project and the 325is was to be my payment for helping fix up the 325i. While looking for some parts for it we found this 318is that isn't running. Seems to be the main bearings that is causing the issue. So we picked up the 318is as my new project and are going to sell the 325is soon. Time is being focused on the 325i for now but I will get to the 318is before too long. I have already bought a fresher m42 for it.

So anyway, here are pics of said cars.

    1987 325is

    1989 325i

    1991 318is

In the deal with the first two cars we got a lot of parts and a lot them will end up in a for sale thread when we can get around to it. Here is a pic of the car we took to pick up the cars and parts with.

Work has begun on the 325i. Starting with suspension front and rear. Will be adjusting the valves once the suspension is done. They all have minor cancer spots but with the exception of the 318 they are strong runners. each of the m20's has less than 100k on them.

Plans for the 318is are to store it for a while, slowly cleaning up the replacement engine and then put it in and just drive it the way it is for a while. Eventually I will paint it and get to the cosmetic stuff but for now, the priority is to just get it back on the road. Anyone have any info on these wheels, I have never seen them on an e30. I know they are BBS RW's but I am not sure what they are worth and I wouldn't mind selling them for something a little different.

So anyway, thats my story. My name is Clay (cccampbe on e30tech). Look forward to many noobish questions when it comes motor swap time.

Not slicks, just ridiculously bald tires on sportmax's. Seller thought those were some super rare oem bmw wheel. But I think they come off someones honda cause the offset is all wrong. We already sold those and replaces them with bottle caps and decent tires. It will get different rims in the future but for now the bottle caps are better than those

P.S. thats stock ride height guys, springs are in the process of getting replaced with e30 m3 springs so its not gonna be much lower but it will drop a little in the front. The owner of that car wants to keep it close to stock ride height, sort of a rally look with mud flaps, maybe a light bar for the front like the m3 rally cars used to have.

            No offense taken...

I also just picked up an oven off CL and some cheap powder coating equipment. Gonna try my hand at that over the next few weeks. Will most likely end up powder coating everything and anything that I can possibly fit in my oven. I've got some cool plans for the m20 valve covers. I think we have 5 total so the ones we don't use will be for sale

Honda's have a higher offset than E30's so that doesn't really make sense. Also when you lower your car it'll gain some naturally camber and the wheels will look and fit better. If you aren't going to lower it much though then definitely get rid of those wheels because Low offset wheels look terrible on cars that aren't low enough to pull off the look.

Welcome to R3V! stick around and have fun! :D

Thanks, I already enjoy this forum a lot. We traded the wheels for 5 bottle caps with 3 good tires and two decent tires plus $100, so I don't think we did too bad. I have never messed with hondas so I don't know their off sets but those sportmax's did look odd on the front, the rears fit perfect. I wanted to keep them and clean them up but we needed the money and the tires.

Another Raleigh'er! Are these the ones that you picked up in the OBX? If so, you saved them from Irene.

Yeah man, the 87 and 89 came from Rodanthe, we saved them from a slow rusty death for sure.

I miss the OBX hang gliding off massive sand dunes... Wicked.

Ohh hey sweet e30s. I found your problem with the 318is, someone stuck an ///M badge on it. That sure as shit is bound to cause issues with the M42.
