Won't it look more "cholo" if you drop it more? Do it anyway if you can, regardless!
regarding the diving boards, what looks better IMO in later style e30s is not the bumper itself so much, but the valence (or valance, whatever)
When I read "cholo style e30" I clicked on it expecting to find some horrific abomination.

Alas, they are not chrome, they are aluminum. Recently polished mine and they look amazing. Un-tucked FTW.

I painted mine this previous weekend, and they look AWESOME now.

XXR wheels are cheap as fvck.
Had the proper tire size from my previous E30 (rip)

didnt' think the wheels would look so "bling"

they'll do for a little while untill I get something more age appropriate for the car, and sell the wheels to some local highschool drug dealer.
Should have gotten silver at least. Gold wheels aftermarket on a silver car :(

Also, you know the bottle cap center will fill those voids if you wrap them in large o-rings?

Why do people put wheels on before a drop? It looks ridiculous.

corroded? oxidized? Whatever you want to call it, every metal bumper I've seen on an e30 in this area isn't what you would call "shiny"

The bumpers are clear anodized, same with the window trim,it was never "shiney" even 20yrs ago. This stuff is stout, I sanded that crap off. To get my bumpers to be polished to a mirror finish. It's worse than clear coat.

The Ronals look good. Did replacing the brakes fix that creaking/groaning you posted about when you were putting it in storage?

Should of kept those wheels and had them painted/powder coated. Would of been nice with it lowered a little. Now it looks plain. Its what you like that matters.
