    New guy '91 318i for $500

    Hi, I'm new here! Picked this up a week ago. Guy wanted $500 for it. Checked my bank account. Had $501.36 Soooo... I bought it... =p No rust. Couple dings and I think one dent. Clear coat chipping/peeling. This is the 1st european car I've bought for myself (the VW in the pics is a father/son project). I've had twenty-some-odd japanese sports cars before this. Decided it was time for a change. Needs a clutch, doesn't move under it's own power and can smell it burning. I pushed it home a mile, the previous owner was nice enough to steer, lol. Runs great though. Can I have some clarification as to what engine this is? I haven't done much reading on here yet.







    And some of the other cars I've had. =p







    I love this area, if only for the fact that the last 5 cars I've bought were for $500 or less. Think I'll keep this one though =p

      that is an M42 my friend... only late model 318s.. early model 318s had an M10....

      love the aftermarket fender vent thingies!!!

                              it'll say on the front driver strut tower when you pop the hood. but i'm pretty sure it's d-schwartz.

                                  there is a label on the inside of the engine bay just above the driverside wheel, it says the color :)
