toying with an idea of building a badass E30 pickup truck.
Now I know there have been few of these built in different configurations but few things that I would like to have are: opening tail gate, good power and nice looks.

here are few pics that I have, feel free to contribute to this thread









I have few choices to go with, early or late model, euro or plastic bumpers, S50 or 4.4L V8 (will not do euro or s54)
also thinking about the color, white, silver, orange, red?

Hi vlad, id say coming from you anything would look great, btw the touring ended up very nice and clean. Now that im in lebanon ive seen lots of nice stuff dunno if you had a chance and checked my thread but its deff worth doing the pickup your way. Or probably do this your way with an euro s50.

Pickup truck has gotta have a V8 in it. It would be hard to split the tailights but I think it could be done. Converting over to LED plates at the same time.

For those who know how to do it, you could cut the outside lights in half, build fill plates on the sides - to make a functional tailgait. And to make it even more boss you could put LED plates



in there so you dont have to worry about having the backing part. You could just use the lense from the e30 and creating your own backing plate to make it a truck.

Ya, I would wire them in the tailgate as well. I am not sure that mike is using LED, I think he just grabbed a dual filiment bulb and used some relays to jump it to do what he wanted. If I can get my hands on some late model tails for cheap, I would be more than happy to get measurements and wire them up to use LEDS, and put the DIY online.
