Thanks man. At the time, I couldn't find a CF valve cover and fuel rail from any other source easily, so I ordered one from Dinan. The only thing on the car that is Dinan is the big bore throttle body, and that pic was taken before I got it. I like Dinan stuff though. Great quality, if a little over priced. I did my sister's 1991 e30 325iX in the entire Dinan line, and also my Fiance's e46 330Xi (except shocks/springs) has the entire line of Dinan products for it.

      Sister's car:

Fiance's car, before clear lights and Dinan stuff (sorry no pics since then):

Any details on your exhaust? All custom?

          How about the manifolds?

GORGEOUS car with balls to back it up- way to go.

Thanks. I'm running B&G Mcoupe springs and Koni adjustables in the e30s52 with real Racing Dynamics (not that electrodyne crap) sways, and a run of the mill BavAuto strut brace front and rear. Car ride is, ahh, firm. But that's ok, I like it. On the 325iX, she's running the Dinan Stage 1 suspension system (they didn't make a s2 or s3 for the iX), and it's a very nice ride, but also is quite sporty compared to stock. The reason why I haven't mentioned this car is that we have quite a few e30's.

            1987 325iC with 227k
            1987 325i with 169k
            Mine (1989 325i) with 60k
            1991 325i with 146k
            1991 325iX with 156k

So, needless to say, it's not really worth it to talk about the others (except my sister's iX), since there are more than just one or two.

The exhaust is a set of shorty Turner MoSport headers that were custom bent to clear the firewall on one set of collectors, and the two little "grapefruits" are a set of euro metallic race cats, connected to a B&B TriFlow exhaust. Piping was all 100% SS Mandrel bent, with SS welds. The exhaust you see there was a culmination of several attempts by the guys at Turner to get the most out of the exhaust. I picked up about 10hp and 14lb/ft of torque with that setup right there.

I originally wanted no cats, but the service guys at Turner talked me out of it because of "noise issues", i.e. Law Enforcement problems. It was VERY loud with no cats and straight pipes to the end. Hell, I still have problems with the cops. I've gotten 2 "Excessive Exhaust Noise" violations in the last 6 or 8 months. Once, I stated that there was a "hole" in the exhaust :D , and the other time, since I was doing 94 in a 55, the trooper cut me a break and said that instead of the speeding ticket, he was going to give me an "EEN" ticket. I was on my way to The Glen for a DE, and was going ot miss tech inspection. I pulled the, "Oh, I think my brother-in-law is a trooper for you guys" bit. And it worked.

The car has been lots of fun. Especially at DE's where it's nice to see guys in e39 M5's, e46 M3's, and all other manner of cars, give me the "fly-by stare" as my little e30 goes by. God I love the power to weight ratio in my car!

Exhaust was about $600 for each cat ($1200 total for both cats), headers were about $1100, and piping was a couple hundred, maybe $500 total for SS piping. Then of course all the welding supplies, and labor. Since this was the culminating evolution of the exhaust, I think they tested three different designs before settling on this one as the one that made the most power but still had "acceptable" noise limits. So, maybe $3k for parts plus @$1500 for labor for all the testing and work for a grand total of around $4k or $4.5k for the exhaust work (not including the Triflo). I do come out to MA every once in a while, when I do, I'll make an announcement for anyone that wants to get together and give it a spin. As long as they don't R3V it, I'll let near anybody drive it just to see how it is.

Wow, that is a shit-ton of cash for an exhaust, but as they say- do it right or don't do it at all. It is literally a work of art- absolutely beautiful.

Did Turner do the S52 swap for you as well?

No, Schneller did the work. They're like 5 miles down the road from each other. Schneller has done maybe 35 or 40 of these, so I went with them for the swap itself. But for the actual performance work, Turner has done it all. From the cams a couple years ago, all the way up to what is basically a fully built NA s52 engine with just about everything that everybody makes for the s52. They are hands-down the best performance shop I've ever been to. It's worth the 6 hour drive for me to have it done right.

TREVOR, you should buy a chicken wing place next to turner so youd have some place to hang out while they dicked around with your car

The way Trevvy drops coin at TMS, I'm surprised Will hasnt just installed a chicken wings place in the lobby.

Trevvy would be there more often! And TMS could convince him to buy more stuff for no reason!

^ BLUNT speaks the truth... wish Turner carried more of that sexy E30 shit on their website.

Trevor... what do you think of those Milano's? I was thinking of getting some Torino's as a daily driver seat for my M6... They comfy? Do you know if the distributors of those seats are able to install BMW heated seat elements in them or are they sewed shut? Not that you are the SPARCO help desk... just wondering on your $0.02.

Glad to see you over on R3V over Roadfly.
