What do you think? Totalled again?

So here's the backround. I was driving in the left lane on a busy road in my town when a buick flies out of a side street and hits the passenger side of my car. The girl in the buick is a high school girl who just got her license. The cop took the incident report and left me to get the car home which is about a half mile away. I threw a basketweeve on and dispite a strong pull to the right I got it home. The wheel took the majority of the impact so at first it doesnt seem as bad as it really is. Fender is trash as well as the dish on the style 5 :(. The control arm is noticably bent and Im sure ill need a new tie rod. Obviously totalled right?

My vote is on totalled, but it should be an easy fix.

I so feel your pain. I picked up my second e30 on December 13th, a completed '89 325is with $11,000 worth of upgrades/work over the last 3 years for around $5,000. On December 19th a 16 year old girl crossed the yellow lines right in front of me and hit me practically head on. Thankfully no one was hurt. The car is totaled after a week of ownership. Hopefully, your car is not totaled as I have spent everyday since the accident trying to convince the insurance company the true value of the car.

Sorry for the thread jack, your story just sounded very similar to what Ihave been going through the last two weeks. Thankfully your car doesnt have near the damage mine did. Hopefully you have her back on the road soon.

Its hard seeing something you put so much time and effort into get mangled like this. Yours sounds a lot worse and it sucks becuase im sure it was a beautiful e30 for that price. I bought this car in Aug. 09' and a month later a drunk driver slammed into the front. I was able to fix it but the insurance company refused to come close to the value I originally paid for it which was 3700. They settled at $2700 and they take the car or 2500 and I keep it. Im hoping they recognize the true value of the wheel and I just replaced the suspension a few months back. The car will get fixed though.

Its really shitty that this happened, but at least with $2500 you'll have this fixed up with lots to spare.

If someone keys an E30, it's totalled....

That said, I'm willing to bet subframe damage too. Not just to the LCA and tie rod.

That blows the gnar. Don't drive it like that, it looks unsafe.

I would at least check the subframe mounting points. If those are tweaked out of place it will likely never drive right again. Sorry to hear about your incident.
