    90' Alpine white E30 M50 *PIC HEAVY*

    Hello all,

a couple of years ago i got my first car - an alpine white 1990 318is. brilliant.

    The day it was purchased:

After a quick tidy up, I removed the double-decker spoiler which, IMO, looks absolutely terrible. Got an mtech-1 spoiler and swapped out standard interior for black E30 M3 leather sports seats and installed the 2 1/4" supersprint exhaust out of an E30 M3.

After this and just learning how to drive generally (was on my learner plates) I entered a couple of events. After the second one I got a bit bored of my lack of power, so felt like change was necessary..

    So this happened!

Here is a list of the mods currently done that I can remember at the moment:

    M50 engine conversion
    AKG engine and gearbox mounts
    AKG DTM selector rod
    Ralco short shifter
    BM-Autohaus custom extractors
    Twin 2 1/4" Lukey exhaust
    BM-Autohaus sump conversion
    E36 steering rack
    HD M20 clutch kit
    Lightened M20 flywheel
    Bilstein shocks
    Koni springs
Ling long 205/55/15 tyres (hardness rating of 350 - performance spec )

Getting ready to pull out the old M42..

Assembling long motor. HD M20 clutch kit/lightened flywheel

Ralco shortshifter + AKG selector rod. Boy is it tight!

    Floor view.

Custom extractors thanks to Rubin @ bm-autohaus.com.au, gave 20rwhp on the dyno when this motor was first installed in an e30 in '96 (yes, I do believe this engine is a bit of a slut)

Brake booster delete plate to fit M50 manifold

AKG Gbox and motor mounts, E36 steering rack

    All assembled.

Better view of the prettyful extractors :)

The car is still waiting on all the wiring, but after that it will be go go go!

ALSO I do understand that this engine is by no means an M-motor, but it looks better. I'll end up putting in some S50 cams at some point just to half justify the cover!

    What is planned:
Ireland engineering 315mm rotors with twin piston calipers up front
BMW 8-bolt 3.73 LSD, when the 6 bolt open-centre reaches its inevitable and, im sure, spectacular conclusion

I shall definitely be updating with new pics and videos when the car gets running. Apparently this engine/extractors/exhaust combo sounded absolutely tits. Thanks for viewing!

you went without a booster? uh..... k.

you know that a 325ix booster would fit just fine, right?

The aim with this conversion was to be in and out as quick as possible. Its taken a week so far and I had a delete plate laying around, rather than buying a booster and waiting for it to arrive. I don't mind pushing a bit harder.

What's wrong with a booster delete?

          Im with trackjunkie.

Imo it takes out a potential point of failure in the braking system, ever try to stop with a dead booster?

Yeah. It's like stopping with a booster delete plate.

lol. I have not tried to stop with a bad booster, but this is exactly what I had in mind.

                  ....thats not an M50...

*edit, nevermind it's just the cover.

clean swap, nice selections...but spare yourself the risk and throw a booster in there:loco:

No its not. When the booster is still there, dead, it makes the pedal even more difficult to push. With it gone its much better, and there's more feel in it too.
