I've have some REALLY hard impacts that the plate has shrugged off. The nature of this particular impact (while also being extremely hard) just hit on a weak point in the raceskids design. The severe duty skidplates I've seen are definitely stronger, but saying that the Raceskids plate is a waste of money is quite an exaggeration.

Lets not turn this into a debate over whose plate is better... there are several threads on that already.
It comes down to preference at the end of the day.

It's because it's mounted to the Radiator support, I don't know why anyone would mount it that way, you hit something hard enough it destroys your rad support, radiator and your oil pan. Severe Duty skidplate is the way to go.
Because I'd rather have my frame railing bent on an unfortunate impact instead of a rad support, yeah. .
My raceskids has held up well to the accidental abuse it's been through. Of course it's not going to save a pan with an impact like this, or going over a curb at good speed. No skid plate can change physics.
Though I use a raceskids as well, I always DRIVE with the mindset as if I don't have one on. Sorry to hear OP, post pics of where it failed.
race skids are not ment for low cars i broke mine in a couple weeks on my 2 inch shorten housings
It's all about how you drive. Like mentioned, you have to drive pretending you don't have a plate installed; not trolly lolly thinking, "oh look a bump, meh, the skid will save me".
Though, I know some things aren't always avoidable and sometimes we're negligent lol. I'm on 3" cut housings(so imagine the suspension travel going up and down slamming pan sometimes) and I have yet to be cruisin' for a bruisin'

I agree with what i highlighted in red. I hit road construction just like he did when no signs were there. Only sign that was there was hidden behind a telephone pole with a light that didn't work. Skid plate just "shrugged" it off.
