Don't forget supercharging! And the set-up fits quite nicely in an e30.... ;-)

I think balance is a better goal. Who wants a 500whp e30? That's just dumb, unless Vin Diesel is your idol. I would bet the balance this car has with the rev happy/smooth s54 and somewhere around 300whp (I'm guessing he added a few tweaks before dropping the motor in) is just a dream to drive!
I agree for the most part.

I think 300-350whp is optimal for an e30, with no more then 350wtq. Anything over 400whp/350wtq makes even the best set-up car, much more difficult to drive at the limits in each gear, in MOST situations.

And to all the big power nay-sayers, I'm talking about USABLE power! If you can't nail it in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear, without massive wheel spin, including power-shifting, then your statement holds NO value. :p

I am more tempted by M60's though, those swaps are gaining more traction as well.

I wouldn't mind seeing a subsection in the 24v subforum deticated to the s54 swaps so we can gather info in one place then the s54 swaps could be as easy as m50/s50/52 etc someday. I remember when the m50 was the holy grail of performance or that was atleast a common opinion when the swaps where first being completed.

The wiring was a lot of work, but yeah that's basically it.

It goes without saying your build thread would be a r3v best seller. Might even make the NYT list.

Although, there's nothing quite like seeing it in person. Might have to look into plane tickets for the picnic....
