Few changes to the Corvair. new vid & pics, page 4

Since i desided to keep the Corvair, i made some changes. Nothing that couldnt be removed later on though. I put on a 69 Camaro front spoiler, added a white stripe to the lower belt line, and put real amber (non halogen) sealed high beams in it. I still have the original T3 headlights in the lows. I also started to freshen up the suspension seeing it is 47 years old. I got the front done, and still need to do the rear. While i got the rear suspension out i'm going to drop the engine/trans and replace the clutch. Its getting kind of weak and will slip on hard takeoff.

I had to get a new glove box for it cause the old cardboard was just falling apart. I must of not looked in there the whole 4 years i had this car, cause i found the original Protect-O-Plate! The car was sold in Arlinton, VA on 6-18-65 at Rosenthal Chevrolet to A. M. Blamphin.

For those who dont know the car. Its a 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Monza. It has a 164ci flatsix in it with 140HP and a 4speed. The mods done to it is, a single 4bbl, cam, 1.6 roller tip rockers, deep oil pan and headers. The car was originaly a 110hp 2 speed glide. Color is Danube Blue with blue int. And yes i know the front has to come down some.

Thats a really interesting engine configuration, specifically the pullies. Never seen that before.

Nonetheless your car look minty! Do you put it in those classic car show events?

Very cool! This makes me want to get to work on my dads Buick Wagon. Question about the gearbox though. I was talking to my dad about these cars and he said shifting through the gears in one of these can be hit or miss, he thinks they should have put in a gated shifter. How do you like the feel of it?

I never missed a gear yet. Its a pretty simple thing to shift!

i tried to keep it period correct. heres an overview of the car since i first bought it. (7-21-07)

Now fast forward a few months, i got the correct int. Put on the correct wheel lip trim, replaced the head that had the burnt valve and added the later lower lip.

                      Then a year later i put in a 140hp with a 3speed.

Then a year after that lol, i get a set of Keystone Klassics and replaced the 3 speed with a 4 speed.

My buddy has a 63' Monza Sypder. Good ole' Nader special. I was always really scared to go for rides in it.
