^^^^ word, I'll investigate. Let you know.

as for the windows... i'm stupid. but it's a funny story.

So I get up around 0445 every day, out the door at 0500, and usually i need a little de-fogging action on the rear window, no biggie. But it's one of those things that I do without even thinking about it? you know where this is going... yup, I pushed that damn circuit breaker this morning instead of the rear defrost...

    doh!

I'm betting that it's just random wires hacked in by the PO

That's what I think. Get the car up on jacks/ramps and look right around the oil filter for the oil level sensor the screws into the block. The wire leads right up and across the front of the valve cover. Hope this helps a little.

          That's my guess.

Any adverse running or sputtering? Or just the stank?

Think I figured out the stank- reached under and put my finger on the Tranny fluid drain bolt, it had MTL on it, so I think it's blowing back from the bolt, burning on the exhaust, I'll re-torque it today and get some new bolts on order.

I hope it's not actually MTL.... Should be ATF and in some cases gear oil (ATF for dd'd cars).
