    Me and my ride

My name is John, and I fell in love with E30 style BMW's after my first time experience in one at the end of the year 2011.

Looks like a nice start. So, are you pulling the m42 out and stuffing a newer engine in?

Thank you all for a warm welcome! Plans are to put a engine back in, lower, boost, and a bunch more little things... I have two engines, the original pulled with 240k-still ran fine with usual tick tack noises, and I bought one from a salvage yard in Arizona from a 1993 BMW-m42 with 93k on it. Been on hold due to the oil pans not matching. I do have plenty of pictures and all the goodies I have bought for the turbo charging, kinda figured they will go on the project thread soon to be made here.

          Cheers!

You must have bought an m44. welcome. car needs a lot of lowering!

Thank you! It was tagged as 1993 BMW 1.8l engine... as I have learned they are very very similar. Just little pieces of info I wish I'd known, they make such a big difference in choices.

Thank you! When I found it, it had a idle issue the prior owner was clueless on. I found a vacuum leak and problem solved...:D

stick with the m42 if you boost. it has a forged bottom end while the m44 does not

enjoy your stay. also you can pull oil for the turbo in two places on the 42. there are oil ports on the lower part of the oil filter housing and on the back of the head. look for the allen key bolt heads
