So I have $1500 in the car total. Maybe $300 i the turbo kit.

Any upgrades needed to the DME for fuel enrichment, timing retard, etc? I know you're running 8 psi, just curious if you need to add a chip.
Looks like a fun project though. Those M10 blocks are extremly tough. BMW used a derevitive of that block in their turbo F1 car in the '80's, and it was good for 1000+ hp back then. They actually "seasoned" the new blocks(heat/cool cycles), simulating higher milelage, as the blocks became stronger by doing so.

        Keep us updated.

Only mods to the fuel system is 24lb injectors and a 12:1 Vortech FMU. I have heard stories about how crappy using an FMU is but I'm not boosting much and I can always upgrade to MegaSquirt.

why only 8psi? A stock m10 can handle alot more. Turbo projects are cool!

of course, you know that piping looks about what it cost you. How secure are those silicone joints?

how does it run thus far?

The piping and silicon bends are from ATP, real cheap, lol.

so i got a question i dont know jack shit about turbos(and sorry for jacking this thread) but if i was to just bolt up a turbo to my m20 would i be able to start my car and go no other upgrades to the ecu or fuel system etc just turbo, intercooler, manifold etc 19lb injectors stock ecu and the afm...would i be able to just start and go without needing to tune it if its only running really low boost?

yes, you can just slap a turbo on your car and it will have a million HP instantly.

If i were you, i would do some more research.

If by 'just slapping on' you mean bolting up a manifold, running oil fill and return lines, getting a custom downpipe fabricated with 02 sensor bung, and then running charge pipes around to your intercooler and then to your intake pipe complete with a bov jb welded on...

if you did NOT ateast hook up a fmu, I am sure you could start to run lean after 5psi, but if you left the spring out of your wastegate so your turbo wouldnt make much boost I am sure you could atleast drive it around.

from this megasquirt info frame.. http://www.megasquirt.info/v22manual/minj.htm

the 19# fuel injectors will run out of steam at around 200hp unless you boost the fuel pressure, and I would say if you are going to turbo you are probably shooting for atleast 50 hp over stock, so around 220 or 230hp. 24# injectors will flow 245hp of fuel at normal fuel psi, but if your running 10lbs of boost the normal fuel pressure (45psi?) would drop to 35, which means the 24# would only flow 215hp worth of fuel. Upping the fuel pressure atleast by however much psi you plan to run is probably a good idea to keep from leaning yourself out. I am just guessing at all that, so somebody who knows about the pressure regulators please help me out.
