E30 M3's never got dog-leg transmissions because they were US only cars weren't they?
Also, all E30 M3's were LHD because they were only made for the US. I'm just trying to get my facts right. All RHD's were aftermarket setups.Reminiscing...Comment

e30 m3's in the U.S. never got the dogleg box because BMW NA didn't think that it would be the best choice for American market - possibly too hard to deal with. Also they were being sold in the U.s. with the short 4:11 rear end so the CR tranny with the 4:11 equals a whole lot of shifting - not practical for street driving. Replacement parts for those trannys are also non-existant in this country - thus fixing them would have made much higher costs to owners and a harder time of getting parts over here.
The e30 m3's were all LHD for financial reasons. There are only a few markets that the e30 m3 was sold in that required or at least partially required a RHD setup. BMW at the time didn't see it necessary to build a RHD car - although it is rumored that they built 1 factory RHD e30 m3. This is why BMW did not export e30 m3's to australia, and why you see LHD e30's in the UK and Japan.
the e30 m3 was produced for and sold throughout Europe. We got the U.S. spec m3 - the least powerful, standard Getrag 265 tranny, ect. There is the Evolution 1, 2, and 3 models - as well as the special edition ravaglias and cecottos (sp?) most all of which had differing engine displacements/cylinder heads, EMS, and some had model specific paint colors. the e30 m3 was certainly not made for the u.s. market - we got lucky to even get a soft version of this :)PNW Crew

there is one RHD factory m3...it lives in the dealership about 2k down the road from me! its pretty hot...diamondschwartz, cardinal leather, gold rims. apparently was the demo model for Oz and NZ before ending up here. there quite a few others running round that have been converted over hereJUNGL3

All RHD are conversions (besides the one up the road from Gus)
