Shaprie removal off paint method anyone??

so today started off good, washed my e30 in the morning then took some pics over by Hermosa beach...then i get home after a long day and i go back out to lock her up and thats when i saw that my poor baby got vandalized in front of my house by some stupid f*ucks! Worst of all they had to use a sharpie :curse:, thankfully it was just on the trunk. Gonna try to cleaning it off tomorrow..anyone have any suggestions on how to get the sharpie off without harming paint??

Booze, specifically 151 rum. Or carefully not to rub too hard, acetone. Goof-off. There is so much stuff for this. And none of it will be totally safe for the paint.

Rubbing alcohol takes permanent marker off quite easily.

Try a dry-erase marker for those whiteboards or whiteboard marker over it then rub it off.
Maybe a clay bar might do the trick.

me neither man, bums me out knowing it was someone on my block. well i tried some gasoline to remove it and all it did was dull down the marker but you can still see it, gonna try some rubbing alcohol to see if that works.

btw thanks guys for the help  i would have probably just ended up getting a scratchpad and having to paint the whole trunk again...not fun!

Have you tried Mr clean magic eraser? it takes of the pin striping on an e30, with many hours but it comes off clean. Maybe try that.

DENATURED alcohol is what you need. Use a clean cloth, keep switching to a clean spot on the cloth once it has soaked up the ink.

Rubbing compound for light to medium scratches should do the trick. I would use a buffing wheel to make it easier
