1.8f 50mm prime lens, I want to get a better body with a faster shutter speed and crisper quality but for now this is all I can afford

225s on 8s will be fine, and up to 245 on the 9s. I have 235 on my 9s and there is a slight stretch, just depends on brand. I know some brands (hoosier for example do run wide...but your not running hoosier ;-) )

So, would 225/40 work nice with minor stretch on the 8.5s and 9s?

You'll have almost no stretch with on either width.

I'll text you right now so we dont give away any secrets ;)
