What's going on guys, thought I'd introduce my self and say hi. My name's Imran and I picked up a 86 325e a couple weeks ago. Always been a car guy, I've grown up around saabs most of my life but have ventured into the wonderful world of BMWs. I bought a 96 328is a couple years back, absolutely love the car but I have big soft spot for cars from the 80s especially the e30s. Don't really know much about the car but the kid I bought it from, got the car from his neighbor. It just sat in his garage untouched and unloved for about a year. It needed/needs some love but the car is all there, minimal rust on the inner part of the driver fender well other wise it's solid. I'm in the process of bring the car back to its former glory.

So far I've done the brakes and swapped the alternator, I also tucked the aluminum bumpers and sprayed them and the grille with rubberized undercoating. I wasn't too comfortable painting the rubber bumpers with spray paint, fearing the paint would eventually crack so i tried undercoating. I bought a set of hella fogs from a guy on bimmerfourms to replace the cracked ones on the car. I have round driving lights from my SPG that will make their way on this car as well, just have to fabricate some sort of bar to mount them too. Should be a fun winter in this thing. I'm looking forward to spending time on this forum!

Scored a set of brand new Pirelli snow tires for $200

Did some rust proofing as well

Like the wheels. Hate early bumpers. Just me though.

I don't want to say I hate the early bumpers but I don't like them as much as I like the plastic bumper cars but beggars can't be chooser, especially considering I only paid a grand for a running e30 with 145k miles. The car looks 100x better with the bumpers tucked and sprayed black that's for sure.

Thanks and yeah this thing sits so high up, not used to it coming from my E36. Coilovers are on the list of things to purchase but that probably wont happen till next year some time.

To each his own i guess, I thought about polishing them and calling it a day but I just couldn't get over how far they stick out. I contemplated tucking them with the aluminum still exposed but it was more work than i cared to do. If I get bored with this look I'm sure i can peal off the undercoating i sprayed and polish the aluminum .

Thanks! I've never been fond of hubcaps but these BMW ones really do look nice.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I really have no idea when the last time any type of maintenance was done to this thing so I'm trying to take care of things that could cause potential problems. Next pay check will probably be funding a new water pump, thermostat, hoses, plugs, intake manifold and valve cover gaskets and a new throttle cable. Anything else you would recommend looking into?
