    Is the lip on the fender arch hammered out on this vert?

    I am trying to increase clearance and wish to do the same modification to my fenders.

        Just to clarify... rolling out isn't just using a fender roller and rolling the inside lip.

        You rolled out, or as I put it hammered out, the small bend and repainted. Correct?

        Your edge looks so smooth and it looks like it was cut.

          It was rolled out with a fender roller. Then smoothed out with bondo and then painted.

            I destroyed 2 oil pans through a race skids plate. They're fine if you have a moderate drop and live in Freshpavedia. There are a lot of static cars in here that were lower then mine too.

                  Just curious but how do all of you guys who are slammed on static drop drive your cars around? Im not slammed by any means but my 24V skid plate has less than 2 inches of clearance as it is and I plan to get coils and go at least an inch lower in a month or two. Do you guys not DD your cars?

                    ^ I daily drove my e46 for 2 years with a fiberglass front lip about 2" off the ground. You have to know what you can/can't get over, and you have to be careful. The roads are really terrible around here, certain potholes would rip my bumper off, some speed bumps aren't worth it to try, stuff like that. Kinda just have to man up and get it done, try not to hit bad stuff. I imagine a low oil pan is about 60% as difficult as a front bumper.

                      ...carefully. i DD mine (although not everyday i have to go somewhere) with no plate in seattle

                        I think I will also just get bigger tires. 205/40/16 on a 16X9 doesn't help.

                          Mine is DD'ed. You just have to be an alert driver. I tried straddling a small chunk of asphalt on the road today and it nailed the oil pan, so now I know that I have to swerve around stuff that size now.

                          You get used to it. Then again I somehow still have about 2" of clearance under mine.

                            I'm not incredibly low, but extremely stiff springs help a lot.

                              Ya part of it is mine is 24V swapped so that makes the pan as low as an M42 or maybe even lower. A am already an extremely alert driver from DDing my vert with soft kopis but sometimes there are things you really cannot avoid.

                              Gooch: Im hoping that the spring rates I have with coils will help with things I might hit due to spring compression on bumps.

                                Get / Make yourself a trustworthy skid plate and get over the fact that you WILL hit things. Then you can launch off of anything you want without a care in the world. It's better then driving around with your tail between your legs all the time.

                                Also - raise your motor as much as you can without F'ing the driveline.

                                Both of these modifications can be done for a few hundo. Well worth the piece of mind in my opinion.
