I am back in the e30 game

I had to sell my e30 88 sedan (miss it everyday) due to lot of life changes. New job, moved out state, new baby all in a a week. Well over year later after selling my beloved car the mrs. Needed a bigger car than her e39 so in comes the escalade. At this point I o not have any bimmers in the barn and went into deep depression as I felt I had betrayed the motherland.

So fast forward to last week. The mrs. Says and I quote " you should buy another BMW so you don't cheat on me". So I pulled up eBay and Craigslist and narrowed it down to the e30 vert. Found the closet one and bought it.

Today I drove up from phx to pick up a 92 318i vert with 217 on the odo with a bad motor mount for $2,650 I am so happy to be back in he fold. More pics coming.

Perfect car for an M50 conversion. Strong, reliable vehicle with many upgraded features. Just had a motor mount fail, so car is not currently driveable, but can be with very little investment. I am in the process of relocating, and car cannot go with me.

    Upgrades/Options:

Fresh M3 Carbon Black Paint (Painted in February 2012) including full blackout of trim, emblems, front grill & kidney

New Vinyl Convertible Top (February 2012)

    New Windshield (February 2012)

Smoked Euro Spec Hella Projector (with Smiley) Headlights, with City Lights (about $300 on eBay), Smoked lenses all the way around

M3 Rear View Mirror with Map Lights

    Struts replaced (April 2010)

Alternator & Battery Replaced (August 2012)

Engine compartment recently detailed (September 2012) ... Sand Blasted, Painted & Detailed Valve Cover, Intake Manifold, Throttle Body, Cold Air Valve & Oil Filter Cover

Convertible Windscreen (factory option, about $350 item on eBay)

Convertible Top Cover (factory option, just covers passenger compartment, when top is down)

Aftermarket Center Console Arm Rest/Cup Holder

Sony Xplod CD/Stereo with Bluetooth, 9 speakers, including 2 new front tweeters, 2 new 5 inch DA drivers behind rear seat, and new Pioneer 2 way speakers in rear seat side panels.

    Heated Seats

    Typical E30 issues:

Cracked dash, damage to drivers seat bolster, rear seat dry/cracked, typical seals degradation (I have however, replaced many of the seals throughout the car: Windshield, Trunk, A Pillars), Central Locking Unit and actuator issues (Driver's door actuator brand new however)

    Extra Parts:

Many extra parts also go with vehicle: Powder Coated Valve Cover, Assortment of Headlight parts, Grill & Kidney, M3 Rear View Mirror, Stock Tail Light assemblies ...

            Welcome back!

Are you going to fix the mount and rock it as-is or swap it?

seriously dude? you can find a part and a mechanic to fix a Tahoe/Silverado based truck in any town, anywhere in America, for pennies on the dollar compared to any BMW. plus it's covered in chrome, leather, and pearly paint and keeps his wifey and kid cocooned in 6000+ lbs of steel.

congrats on the pickup man. your wife sounds excellent and definitely down with the BMW's. i'm looking forward to seeing the changes!

So went to replace the bad "engine mount" and found the engine support brackets to be broken. Removed said bracket and found this behind it.

Then looked up from the bottom and found these on the bottom of subframe

Soooooo looks like I will be doing a swap a year ahead o time. I was wanting to work out most of he typical e30 bugs over the next year and acquire parts for a swap.so I am open to almost any swap, what is everyone's thoughts? I can go either way on a swap, be a purist or drop a domestic in it. I am mechanically inclined and have access to a shop to do fab work. Not lookin to do a weekend swap from a e36. So m30? 5.0? 5.3 with LSD heads? But I do not want queen that I work on for a year, would like to drive it.
