    Intro 1991 318iS slicktop

Hello fellas, I Just bought a 1991 318is hennarot red and its a slick top. Has about 130k miles give or take.

Excited on this purchase since I have previously owned a 1984 325e when I was 16 (Age 20 now) which my neighbor sold to me for $100 and with a broken oil pan, after I replaced oil pan it started right up. It ran well and gave me good gas mileage always started up for the 4 years I've had it and also the mileage being over 300k
Replacing the transmission myself I loved the practicality, simplicity and durabilty of these cars...I loved this car and I had no idea what an e30 was up until a year ago when my friends were telling me what car I have been driving.

So now about my new e30, bought it for $3700 and everything runs mechanically fine. Glove box latch not working, Cracked dash, odo stopped working, front seats have a some tear. Everything is stock except its on H&R's and billy's.

Looking for some advice on what to do with my new purchase. Things I want to do within these next couple months.

    -Already fixed odometer.
-bought red rubber floor mats (I'm a avid surfer as well)
-Bought skid plate (Replaced oil pan about 4 times on my 84 325e)
-Bought IS lip and glove box.
-bought water pump super kit (pelican parts) and
-Bought Suspension kit and also a hose kit (blunttech)
-new steering rack assembly bought (rack doctor) with new p/s hoses as well.

-I want to install fog lights on my car, but the switch for for lights is absent and I can't find the wiring??? Also has no cruise control.
-Want to install an alarm (maybe autostart too?) on car as well as a new stereo.
-I want to install some headlights, thinking about euro smilies with euro grilles.
-(giving my car a new coat of brilliantrot and reupholster my black front seats during spring break in April)
-Later down the road probably get some bbs rs rims, dont know which kind.
-M tech steering wheel and a shift knob

Looking for some of your guy's opinions. And what should I do to the car.
Well there you have it, I hope to acquire knowledge on my car as well as spread some knowledge I have attained while fixing my old 84 325e
Thanks RUFFLZ, my co-worker for telling me to create an account on R3v.

Very nice I also have a slicktop and I love it. For the fog lights just buy some off of here and a fog light switch the wiring is there you might have to poke around a little to find it. For the headlights just find some us elipse or euro smiles and you can run hid's(using the us elips the install is plug and play the euro smiles require a little wiring but its not hard), and for the high beams elephant supply sells yellow film that does the job and is pre cut so you just pull it off and put it on the highbeams

sweet thanks for the info. Will do for the fog lights and also I heard about the film but I found out that you could stain the glass yellow with some kind of liquid.

Did you pick this up from SoCal? I was hoping this one would land with a member here. Welcome to the e30 318is club!

Yes I did pick it up from Socal and drove it back to San Francisco. 7 hour drive I got real close to this car in those 7 hours. LOL

Thats funny. The first e30 I bought was in San Fransisco, then I drove it all the way back down to SoCal haha

Hennarot is an early model color though; therefor, I'd doubt its Henna (Henna also looks sorta orangey). Check the strut tower, it will have the paint code sticker on the left strut tower IIRC. I have been wrong before, but that definitely looks like Brilliantrot; a sweet e30 however none the less

Also, if you want some advise on headlights; Smilies are the go to answer for any e30 owner. You can see them on the car in my sig

Looks brilliantrot to me, our cars are twins! 1991 318is slicktop.
I'd start with making sure the suspension has been refreshed, the difference between 22 year old bushing and new replaced bushings is like night and day. Then IS lip.

                        Welcome! Keep us updated.

and side note: the red floor mats sounds bad just saing.. It's a BMW not a Acura or Honda.

I got the red plastic floor mats. I need them, I'm an avid surfer and swimmer. Without them my carpet would be ruined.

I order all suspension parts already previous owner had Billy's and h&r's I have all new bushing gonna install.

I am going to order timing chain, tensioner, rails/guards and gears next week.

All this going into my car by the end of march. Along with new hoses, thermostat, water pump, and a complete tune up
